Rodizio Rico - Westbourne Grove
111 Westbourne Grove, London, W2 4UW [Map]
Rodizio Rico, London's authentic Brazilian 'churrascaria de rodizio', is situated on Westbourne Grove in West London. Churrascaria translates as barbecue in Portuguese while rodizio means rotating, referring to the restaurant's unique style of service where carvers pass from table to table, slicing sizzling roasted meats from skewers onto your plate.
There's no formal menu as such, instead the price is fixed allowing diners to eat as much as they'd like. It centres on the wide range of grilled meats continuously rotated and flavoured with sea salt, skewered and then anchored over the charcoal fire. Add to this, diners can also help themselves to the vast array of traditional Brazilian hot dishes and exotic salads available on the buffet, all freshly made on the premises.
So, for a truly unique Brazilian atmosphere that's fun and affordable, head straight to West London for a truly sizzling evening - all you need to take with you is a hearty appetite!

Four Seasons
84 Queensway, London, W2 3RL [Map]
With a deserved reputation for serving the best roast duck and char-siu outside Hong Kong, you should not be put off by the uninspiring décor. The chicken fried noodles are also exquisite, whilst the vegetables - both in terms of choice and quality - leave other Chinese restaurants in the shade; but do note that you will have to book or settle for a takeaway, as there is often a queue and the atmosphere is always buzzing. With a number of unfamiliar and unusual dishes to add to the experience, the Four Seasons is considered excellent value.

Maroush IV - Cafe Edgware Road
68 Edgware Road, London, W2 2EG [Map]
Marouf Abouzaki arrived in London from Lebanon as a twenty-one year old in 1975, and worked as a chef in a Lebanese restaurant until he opened the first Maroush outlet in 1981. The group now has over ten branches in London under the names of Maroush and Ranoush and has plans of expanding further.
When asked about the secret of running a successful restaurant, Marouf simply says, "Good food, good service and full attention to the customers" - exactly what each branch offers. The eateries are well known as they stay open into the wee hours of the morning, a feature that makes them very popular, especially during weekends.
Instead of a traditional three-course dinner, it is quite customary to have an array of small dishes that aim at entertaining diners, beyond just feeding them. The restaurants offer a variety of hot and cold mezzes, like mousakka and falafel, among a host of others.
Grilled king prawns served with a special sauce, cubes of chicken sautéed with red and green hot peppers and served with rice and kastaleta, specially prepared lamb or veal cutlets, served with fries, are popular mains.
If you are looking for something lighter there are sandwiches, wraps and baked savouries. The dessert list is exotic with baklava and ossmalieh, a special rose flavoured dessert made from vermicelli, cream cheese and garnished with pistachios.
The wine list has a selection of fine red, white and rosé wines in addition to champagne, aperitifs, spirits and liqueurs. Maroush prides itself on its authentic fare and great service. It is no surprise then to have food critic AA Gill say - 'Everything is dazzlingly fresh, beguilingly fragrant, exotic yet earthy'.

Mulberry Street
84 Westbourne Grove, London, W2 5RT [Map]
Toppings come in most of the familiar and much loved forms, and also beluga caviar should you be feeling that way. The delicacy of the crust is universally admired, lending an almost pancake texture, dare I say, to the dish. There are various stars of the show; meet the New York Hot, packed with pepperoni, fresh pepper, jalapeño and mozzarella, though the hotness is of an American strength rather than the ferocious brand I enjoyed recently at an establishment in the provinces that shall remain nameless.
Lest it should be thought that nothing but pizzas inhabit the Mulberry Street let me extol the virtues of the many other dishes that are available for the nourishment of the sometimes quite picky inhabitants of Notting Hill, all with an impeccable connection, and well backed by a simple no-nonsense 10 bottle wine list.

Raoul's Cafe - Maida Vale
13 Clifton Road, London, W9 1SZ [Map]
Situated on Clifton Road in the heart of Maida Vale, Raoul's Café has slowly established itself as a trendy and stylish venue to dine and nothing says it better than their mixed clientele who throng its doors everyday, whether it's for full English in the morning, Greek lentil soup for lunch or a seafood dinner.
Even the salads are treated with the same respect and with ingredients like couscous, chickpeas and cinnamon, and green beans, asparagus and artichokes, the choices are notable. The menu changes daily and the kitchen does a particularly impressive job with main courses like chicken tarragon casserole, organic beef lasagne, sausage rolls and arancini.
Raoul's Deli is well-stocked with a wide range of quality items that include barbecued dishes, salads, dips, sauces, breads, cheese, cakes and desserts.
