Brompton Quarter Brasserie
225 Brompton Road, Knightsbridge, London, SW3 2EJ [Map]
Set in London's trendy Knightsbridge, Brompton Quarter Brasserie serves an inspiring modern English cuisine with a Mediterranean influence. The venue's stylish and sophisticated ambience combined with friendly, non-intrusive service provides guests a dining experience with a difference.
Order crispy duck salad with shallots, chili, mint, coriander, melon and cucumber as a start to your meal followed by mussels with chorizo, white wine, cream and fresh herbs. For main course dishes such as pan roasted lamb rump with spicy mint vegetable mint couscous and a red wine reduction and poached salmon fillet with wilted spinach, grilled Jersey royals and a chive beurre blanc are at the forefront. If you prefer grills then the 28 day mature char-grilled sirloin may catch your eye. Sweet temptations include burnt lemon cream raspberry sorbet and tuile biscuits and St. Emilion poached pear and praline tart.
A range of Old World wines beckons from the wine list to complement your meal.

Napket Chelsea
342 Kings Road, London, SW3 5UR [Map]
Well, here's something with a difference. To describe Napket as a café is to restore the true meaning to the word, particularly if you add 'boutique' and 'delicatessen'. This is the recreation of café society in London's King's Road, beautifully designed by Peter van Hooreweghe, quite small, but already wildly popular.
You can eat big or small here, but be sure that either way you will eat well and imaginatively from breakfast onwards, with club sandwiches, salads and European puddings well to the fore.
To enjoy such sophisticated surroundings and food you would think could leave your wallet severely wounded, but not a bit of it, the value is amazing.
This is an exciting addition to the London scene. Just hope the 25 covers are sufficient to keep it viable.

Le Pain Quotidien - Chelsea Kings Road
201-203 Kings Road, London, SW3 5ED [Map]
In the eyes of many it has taken too long for this Belgian bakery-patisserie-café concept to reach Britain, but Le Pain Quotidien is here now and drawing the crowds to its thirteen locations in London. The common thread running through all outlets is the communal style seating where diners can enjoy a breakfast platter, say a wide variety of breads, croissants, yogurt and coffee.
For the rest of the day think tartines, soups, salads, baguettes, fruit tarts and a selection of chocolate wickedness. The bakery also serves naturally leavened sourdough breads, patisserie and croissants and all around is the aroma of freshly baked bread blended with the coffee. In the evening the whole place morphs into romantic dinner setting with candle lights and gleaming cutlery, and the menu choices are substantial, from grilled chorizo and lemon and hot Lyonnaise salad of confit duck to granola 'parfait' with yoghurt and fruits.

Daphne's
Book112 Draycott Avenue South Kensington, London, SW3 3AE [Map]
Daphne's has been the epitome of everything 'chic' about Chelsea for some time since it was re-born under the ownership of Mogens Tholstrup; however, now it comes under the umbrella of Caprice Holdings, the company in charge of the top eateries, Le Caprice, The Ivy and J. Sheekey's. Naturally, though it remains the home of the 'in' crowd and the international wealthy set, Caprice have added a stability that was possibly slightly lacking at times before, and improved the food from just being pretty to look at into excellent to consume as well. The concentration is still Italian, but many of their dishes could be considered international favourites.
You might start with crab and avocado salad, and then move on to try slip soles with brown shrimps and capers, or chicken with chickpeas, lemon and rosemary, a wonderful assembly of flavours and contrasts. Connoisseurs of cheese would find it had to resist an Italian selection of Toma, Tronchetto, Pecorino, Monte Veronese and Taleggio.

Kwality
38 Thurloe Place, South Kensington, London, SW7 2HP [Map]
Guests dining at Kwality can take advantage of an extensive menu. The non-vegetarian thali platter consists of tandoori chicken, lamb rogan josh, vegetable curry, pilau rice and naan bread. The tandoori fish platter offers a whole grilled pomfret fish, spiced spinach, Bombay potato, pilau rice and naan bread. Chef's recommendations include kebab of cottage cheese with spices in a fresh cream sauce, sweet pumpkin with fresh herbs and spices, grilled rezala chicken, slow cooked lamb shank with onions and lentils and king prawn special. Refresh the palate with a Sauvignon Blanc, Chablis, Cabernet Sauvignon or Shiraz. A range of other spirits, Cognac and liqueurs add to the pleasure.

Green Door Steakhouse - Gloucester Road
152 Gloucester Road, London, SW7 4QH [Map]
This Gloucester Road steakhouse is an enthusiastic celebration of fine steaks in a setting that is comfortable and smartly attired with wooden floors, pastel colour schemes and plenty of photographs.
The kitchen makes an impact by focusing on pure bred Aberdeen Angus cattle carefully aged for optimum tenderness and flavour. Appetisers such as lollipop lamb chops lead the way alongside New England clam chowder and their renowned melted brie with freshly baked bread and red currant jelly. The highlight of the menu is undoubtedly sharer platters such as American with buffalo chicken wings, loaded potato skins and BBQ pork ribs with blue cheese and dips, or the oriental version with char-grilled king prawns, crispy beef and duck spring rolls with sweet chilli and hoisin dips. Continue the feast with their signature steaks such as tournedos Rossini and chateaubriand for two to share. Side orders of avocado salad, creamed spinach and broccoli with green beans are winners too.
