Mr Wing Restaurant & Bar
242-244 Old Brompton Road, London, SW5 0DE [Map]
Located on the border of the congestion charge zone, famous for its food, marine fish, foliage, jazz and stylish atmosphere, Wing's offers authentic Chinese cuisine. The cooking methods and ingredients allow the kitchen to offer guests unique dishes based on recipes from culinary capitals and regions across China.
The menu offers something for everyone starting with noodles from Beijing, to the sweetness of Cantonese food, and hot and spicy dishes from the Southwest. Or you could try the vegetarian options originating from the kitchens of the Buddhist monks, and some favourites from Mongolia and Thailand. Vermicelli wood ear mushroom spring rolls, Yunnan king prawns with chilli and garlic, Thai red curried chicken, tangy beef fillet with spinach and choi sum salad are some of the delectable offerings on the extensive menu. Hot toffee apple or banana sprinkled with sesame seeds, and Haagen Daaz ice creams provide a climax to this gastronomic journey.

Mao Tai
58 New Kings Road, Parsons Green, London, SW6 4LS [Map]
Bustling and busy, the ever-popular Mao Tai has an unmistakable energy that has put it to the fore of South East Asian food in London. Located on the New King's Road, it offers a perfect and thoroughly stylish place to relax for an atmospheric lunch or dinner. In the restaurant, dark wood, soft lighting and modern art work all combine to create a warm yet intimate atmosphere that remains fresh and contemporary.
The eclectic menu offers a veritable grand tour of the South East Asian region. Why not start your trip in Shanghai with grilled pork and ginger dumplings and then head to inland Japan for a sizzling Argentine 8oz rib eye tobanyaki with wild mushrooms.
The theatrically lit and designed Mao Bar offers a fabulous list of both traditional and signature cocktails - think lemon grass and chilli martini, refreshing mojito or zesty caipirinha - numerous wines and champagnes and a sensual selection of accompanying dim sum and South East Asian inspired bar food.

Basilico - Fulham
690 Fulham Road, London, SW6 5SA [Map]
At Basilico expect to find that almost everything is much more imaginative than the average pizzeria, especially that they have that real essential for flavour, the wood fired oven.
Certainly customers seem content with what's on offer, particularly the inventive and unusual toppings, like artichokes, chorizo, capers, roasted peppers, salted anchovies, free range eggs, jalapeno peppers, basil pesto, spinach, kalamata olives, goat's cheese, spring onion, pineapple, fresh green chillies, wild mushrooms and meat balls - quite an impressive list, suggesting that this might indeed be as near to Italy as to make little difference.
However, the menu goes well beyond mere pizzas, with excellent salads, as well as pasta and antipasti. They even have their own special version of tiramisu. So for a taste of the real Italy, Basilico could be the answer.
