Gourmet Burger Kitchen was the brainchild of three New Zealanders, who craved after the way that food tasted back home. The chain was instrumental in changing the perception of many people who saw the traditional burger purely as a fast food option; instead they are now seen as more sophisticated products, made using fresh, good quality ingredients.

Their first outlet opened in Battersea and today there are forty-one serving scrumptious burgers. Chef Peter Gordon believes in using innovative combinations, with good quality English chicken and Aberdeen Angus Scotch beef among the ingredients, to make nutritious and convenient to eat fare. They offer chorizo and sweet potato, lamb and minted relish, or the vegetarian portabella mushroom among others. GBK sauces and accompaniments add to their taste.

The menu has nearly thirty different choices and if you feel like biting into pure beef, do try their classic burger with salad and relish - available with or without cheese, this is served with sauces like smoked mayo, spicy satay, fresh chilli and Thai red curry, lending the meal varying degrees of spice.

Some, like the Kiwi, are made using unusual raw materials such as beetroot, fried egg and pineapple, while for fans of chicken, the grilled breast with streaky bacon, salad and avocado is a delicious combination. There are a surprising number of burgers suitable for vegetarians with versions made from puy lentils, potato, green curry or aubergine served with goats' cheese and sun blushed tomatoes. Fresh fruit juices, soft drinks and milkshakes are alcohol free options.

A welcome list of wines and beers complete the picture of a relaxed and modern environment as Gourmet Burger King excels in making the humble burger taste so good.

Deep is an inviting seafood restaurant and bar situated in the beautiful waterside location of Imperial Wharf. The establishment is owned and run by Kerstin and Christian Sandefeldt, previously located behind the celebrated Aquarium in St Katherine's Dock.

The stylish and understated dining destination is distinguished by floor to ceiling windows with a lovely view; a neighbouring bar area offers plenty of seating from which to enjoy the river vista, and Britain's largest range of Aquavit, a Scandinavian speciality.

The menu combines Scandinavian influences and classical French dishes, with more than a nod to the thoughtful location of fish, and future stocks. Get ready to enjoy a selection of the freshest seafood 'at market price'. Platters for two are also available alongside whole roasted or grilled fish, and meat dishes such as braised black pig pork belly with borlotti beans, tomato and gremolata.

Deep shows that even if Fulham can be a staid old place at times, a combination of delicious seafood and firewater can prove to be a big success, just as it was down-river.

Established for thirteen years now, Mission Restaurant, just off the New King's Road, has a successful formula that continues to produce predominantly fusion menus that are extensive, offering something for all tastes, and is well worth a visit.

Favourites range from crispy chilli squid with lemon oil and red onion marmalade, sizzle plates of rib eye steak in lemongrass or chicken in garlic and lime, 10oz Aberdeen steaks and honey roasted ribs through to delicately flavoured traditional curries, and inspired pacific rim and pan Asian influenced dishes, which all come at excellent value for money prices.
