For relaxing and sophisticated dining in central London, The Brasserie located on the lower ground floor of the magnificent One Great George Street building, right in the heart of Westminster, offers well presented, European cuisine in a contemporary setting. A delicious selection of dishes has been created by the chefs and the menu offers a great range of options from monkfish to Scottish beef to tasty vegetarian dishes. For a quick informal meal, the adjacent Café Bar is also open for breakfast, snacks and lunch.

Start with smoked salmon, lemon blinis, caper and dill vinaigrette, and tomato and mozzarella bruschetta with pesto dressing and rocket. Main course could follow with classic Caesar salad with quail's eggs, chicken or traditional cauliflower and goat's cheese risotto and smoked haddock and leek fishcake with sauce tartare. To end your meal order steamed banana pudding with toffee sauce and an ice cream.

Executive chef William Drabble has a distinctive cooking style brought  through graceful presentations, to the table. Seared scallops and Jerusalem artichoke purée served with aged balsamic vinegar quickly sets the appetite in motion. Whilst a grilled sea bass is always a popular dish dish, the roasted baby chicken, marinated in lemon, rosemary and garlic is not far behind. Sinful indulgences include apple tart topped with vanilla ice cream and chocolate mousse.

An extensive and well travelled wine list is never far from the scene.

The top floor of the store has been totally refitted to provide a brand new dining area than can seat up to 270 diners and boasts interesting views of the surrounding area. The appetising menu is based around Pacific Rim inspired dishes, so expect fresh and delicately spiced vegetable dishes and char-grilled fish, as well as large healthy salads. Those not interested in such healthy eating are welcome to simply drop by for coffee and cakes.
