Traditional Italian cuisine in a warm and inviting atmosphere, evocative of the numerous trattorias that line the streets of Italy, could probably sum up perfectly the dining experience at San Remo. The decor is kept simple, with wooden furniture and the ambience is friendly and laidback, so you could head out there for a tasty lunch with some friends or maybe a leisurely dinner party with your family.

The menu features typical favourites such as deep fried whitebait and calamari amongst the starters and then maybe rolled breast of chicken with asparagus, Parma ham and goats cheese. Other options for main course could include veal escalope sautéed in lemon and white wine or thin slices of sirloin steak served pink with green peppercorn and rosemary. There's an extensive Italian wine list with a few available by the bottle also.

The Bridge is located in Barnes, just 200 yards over Hammersmith Bridge; it is a modern gastropub tastefully decorated and comfortably furnished, which has become a popular destination for food since it opened in 2002, their menu changes every 2 months. The garden, which can seat 70 is especially popular in summer. They only take a limited amount of bookings in order to allow guests without reservations to arrive and quite easily be seated.

Gouramys opened at the beginning of December 2002 on the site of the former Rose of Denmark public house in Barnes. The proprietors, Elaine and Tony Martin have moved from Lincolnshire where their restaurant gained entry to the 'Which Good Food Guide' and won 'The Joseph Perrier' best restaurant in Lincolnshire award.

Specialising in fish and seafood the restaurant also offers a selection of meat dishes. All the fish and shellfish are purchased fresh from the markets and depending on the days catch there is a daily specials board.

For Sunday lunch they offer a traditional roast menu as well as the normal seafood menu. Wednesday to Saturday lunchtime they have a set lunch fixed price menu as well as the normal menu, this changes daily and weekly.

The ambience and style of the restaurant is comfortable and relaxed with friendly professional and attentive service. The bar area for pre and after dinner drinks is comfortably furnished with easy chairs and settees and the dining area has well spaced tables from which you can view the two large tropical fish tanks (those are their pets and not on the menu!).

This friendly neighbourhood restaurant is the kind of place you can pop into at anytime of the day. The décor is simple and inoffensive with wooden floors, large silver framed mirrors and both wooden and pretty mosaic tables. From the menu you can start your day with a simple croissant, a full English breakfast, or just stop by for a quick cup of tea or coffee. Otherwise the menu has a wealth of choices to offer such as lasagne and spaghetti carbonara, to more varied dishes such as pan-fried lamb cutlets with sage and rosemary, seafood risotto, swordfish steaks on a bed of diced tomatoes and spring onions, or salmon fillet with pesto. Main courses cost anything from around £6 - £12.

Carluccio's was started by Antonio and Priscilla Carluccio as a small café and shop stocking Italian food and ingredients in 1991, and grew into a restaurant serving authentic cuisine at sensible prices in 1999. Antonio is an expert on food and has been a wine merchant, restaurant manager and owner, cookery expert on television and author of twelve cookery books. It is therefore not surprising, that today Carluccio's has over fourty-nine outlets across the UK.

Antonio believes Italian cookery involves minimum fuss and maximum flavour. This is exactly what his restaurants try to do by using fresh produce, and working largely with families who make things the traditional way - with care. Their passion also translates into special events like hands-on cookery classes and recipe sharing, Antonio and his team regularly organise for interested guests. They also offer takeaways and a catering service.

The breakfast menu offers croissants and breads served with butter and preserves or honey and free range eggs, either scrambled or fried and served with pancetta or ciabatta. They also have long cured Parma ham and healthier options like muesli and fruits. These are best had with coffee, tea or freshly squeezed juice. Carluccio's offers an impressive list of white, red, rosé and sparkling wines which complement your meal.

The restaurants offer a range of soup and salads which give your meal a nutritious start before moving on to the mains. If you like pasta, enjoy the small filled parcels served in a ham and cream sauce, or sample the Neapolitana spaghetti with whole fresh clams, garlic, herbs and chilli. The branzino con salsa e patate, fillet of pan fried sea bass served with tomato salsa and sautéed potatoes and Somerset rib-eye steak with rosemary potatoes, called bistecca di bue con patate, are good options too. If you are looking for something lighter, you could opt for the numerous sides called contorni and panini.

In the Tuscany region of Italy, meals end simply with almond biscuits dipped in a sweet local wine, Vin Santo and eaten. You can enjoy that experience at Carluccio's, or settle for a more conventional dolci of tiramisu, warm chocolate and kahlua pudding, your choice of Italian cheeses or gelatos in different flavours.

The Winkfield is located between Windsor and Ascot and is a favourite of Berkshire residents for its traditional British cuisine and warm, friendly, pub like atmosphere. Located on Lovel Road in Winkfield, the building dates back to the 1880's and different elements in the decor such as wooden beams and low ceilings create the homely feeling of a village pub. The food however is far from that, with fresh and locally sourced produce coming together with consummate skill in the kitchen to create a range of delicious fare, dazzling in its simplicity and bursting with flavour.

Tasty meals could begin with seared scallops, grilled chorizo and blood orange salad and this might be followed by pan fried sea bass with Lyonnaise potatoes, white wine and parsley sauce. Finally, end with a marble chocolate and pistachio brownie with white chocolate sauce or maybe a trio of British cheeses might appeal. The Winkfield bar menu offers salads, baguettes, burgers and pies and the extensive wine list features favourites from across the world.

For authentic Korean food in London, one of the best places to visit would be Cah Chi on Durham Road, a small but well established restaurant where you can walk in for a delicious meal. If you haven't tried this unusual cuisine yet, then the cosy atmosphere and friendly service will help in your initiation, making it into a memorable experience. The decor strays away from the usual clichés with its simple and quiet elegance but it is the food, which is executed excellently and presented with élan that captures your attention.

Barbeques are a popular option at this restaurant where diners can watch their choice of meat being grilled right in front of them. Typical appetisers could include a pungent fried kimchi and pork with steamed tofu followed by grilled mackerel in sea salt or thinly sliced sirloin steak marinated in a special sauce. There are numerous rice and noodle based dishes which serve as perfect accompaniments and do try the Korean wines, sake and beers.
