Boutique bowling was hitherto an unknown idea but now All Star Lanes deserve applause for pioneering this concept by bringing in the first boutique bowling alley to London. In this 1950s American styled venue there are four slick lanes with an integrated diner, serving top quality American food.

A good array of appetizers include salt and pepper popcorn squid, chicken, cilantro and jalapeño quesadilla, and New England clam chowder. Main courses bring in world influences on to a plate with a whole baked sea bass with Hollandaise, Texas chilli con carne, spaghetti and meatballs and bourbon barbecued baby back ribs. Steak lovers could feast on a grilled lamb gigot steak with chilli roasted artichokes, New York strip sirloin and surf and turf.

The bar is well-stocked with an extensive collection of bourbons and offers an endless list of exotic cocktails. All Star Lanes is definitely a venue that just keeps on giving.

As the name suggests, Anda de Bridge, is indeed under a railway bridge and this very unique location makes it a favourite amongst young locals. Exposed brick walls, sunken lights, and the use of dark hues in the décor create a lively and vibrant ambiance. The last missing piece is found as the DJ gets to do, what he does best - getting the crowd on its feet.

The cuisine reflects the many cultures found in the Caribbean Islands whilst the cooking focuses on using quality ingredients to create freshly prepared classic dishes. Fresh seafood, diverse meats, curry and vegetarian dishes are ignited by exotic and spicy seasoning. Expect jerk chicken, peppered tiger prawns and the traditional saltfish and ackee on the menu. Close with a chocolate fondant, fig tart or a Caribbean soufflé.

An interesting drinks menu includes exotic fruit cocktails and an extensive selection of imported fine rums whilst bottled beers range from Red Stripe and Carib to Corona.

Maida is a good example of the new wave of Indian restaurants that are making the enjoyment of this popular cuisine even greater than it has been for what seems a very long time now. An added facility here is the theatre-style kitchen enabling guests to visually share in the action, should they so wish.

The coolly stylish dining room has black marble floors, sleek modern seating, and light walls adorned with graphic art. Private dining rooms are alive and well with an impressive range of life's little comforts like regular or floor seating, and the best of technology, IP phones, Wi-Fi, and climate control.

The menu is extensive, as Indian menus so often are, but the customary reservations that one might have about lengthy menus do not, in general seem to apply, with the food tasting fresh, full of flavour and prepared with great care. A few glances through into the theatrical kitchen leave no room for doubt.

The halal restaurant serves mocktails and a range of Indo-Chinese dishes.

Maida represents a valuable move forward in the Bethnal Green Road area, and from the numbers beating a path to their door that view is well supported.
