Despite the onslaught on modernization the time-honoured meze tradition reigns supreme, and if you're the type who'd like to congregate a group of friends or family and nibble on small plates of food, then relive the tradition at Meze Meze. The palm trees in the dining area help in making the experience as authentic as possible.

Start off by choosing from a selection of nine cold mezzes like hummus, dolma and tabule or their hotter counterparts such as char-grilled spicy beef sausages, oven baked aubergines stuffed with onions, tomatoes and green peppers, and battered, deep-fried squid. A mixture of skewered of chicken and lamb sheesh, whose oozing succulence imbues the smoky flavour of the charcoal grill, while the 8oz premium cut sirloin steak is always there to satiate your meat cravings.

Fish dishes are not entirely forgotten; there's sea bass and sea bream cooked in a salamander grill and Mediterranean prawns simmered in butter lemon juice, garlic and white wine.

A real neighbourhood tapas bar which shares the locality with a roundabout - at times it is difficult to say which is busiest. The food is good and generous, the ambience dark and mysterious and it clearly goes down a wow with the locals and anybody else who can get in. Value for money is excellent, and house wine at £7.50 makes the point well.
