The most likely secret behind the success of Black and Blue Steakhouses is down to having an excellent executive chef and management team in charge of their kitchens and restaurants, ensuring a consistent quality to all of them. They share the same passion, to deliver great steaks with a minimum of fuss and maximum of flavour.

The steakhouses are an eclectic mix of architecture, but what they all have in common is an interior design that has been created to help you dine in perfect comfort.

Start your meal with smoked salmon and scrambled eggs and toast and salads such as char-grilled goat's cheese fit well with steaks and burgers. There is côte de b?uf, for the ravenous, or for two to share, but other than this, sirloin, T-bone or fillet are popular choices. The burgers are handmade and served with a variety of toppings like guacamole, bacon and cheese or even foie gras.

You could complete your meal with red or white wine from countries as far apart as New Zealand, Argentina and South Africa.

The setting of this restaurant makes it a particularly pleasant place to dine al fresco during the warm summer months. The scattering of pavement tables beneath a brightly colour awning give that Greek holiday feel to the place, which we all long to find at home. On the menu you'll find all the classic Greek-Cypriot dishes you would expect including Greek salad, grilled halloumi cheese, kleftiko and various fish and seafood dishes. Whilst perhaps not the best Greek meal you'll ever experience, the Vineyard Taverna does offer well-priced food in very amiable surroundings, making this a fun and affordable place to dine.

Gourmet Burger Kitchen was the brainchild of three New Zealanders, who craved after the way that food tasted back home. The chain was instrumental in changing the perception of many people who saw the traditional burger purely as a fast food option; instead they are now seen as more sophisticated products, made using fresh, good quality ingredients.

Their first outlet opened in Battersea and today there are forty-one serving scrumptious burgers. Chef Peter Gordon believes in using innovative combinations, with good quality English chicken and Aberdeen Angus Scotch beef among the ingredients, to make nutritious and convenient to eat fare. They offer chorizo and sweet potato, lamb and minted relish, or the vegetarian portabella mushroom among others. GBK sauces and accompaniments add to their taste.

The menu has nearly thirty different choices and if you feel like biting into pure beef, do try their classic burger with salad and relish - available with or without cheese, this is served with sauces like smoked mayo, spicy satay, fresh chilli and Thai red curry, lending the meal varying degrees of spice.

Some, like the Kiwi, are made using unusual raw materials such as beetroot, fried egg and pineapple, while for fans of chicken, the grilled breast with streaky bacon, salad and avocado is a delicious combination. There are a surprising number of burgers suitable for vegetarians with versions made from puy lentils, potato, green curry or aubergine served with goats' cheese and sun blushed tomatoes. Fresh fruit juices, soft drinks and milkshakes are alcohol free options.

A welcome list of wines and beers complete the picture of a relaxed and modern environment as Gourmet Burger King excels in making the humble burger taste so good.

Breakfast favourites could include the hot sausage in a wholemeal bap or organic porridge spiked with Valrhona chocolate. Lunch time could bring classic baked beans in a slow cooked tomato sauce and plenty of wraps, filled with grilled chicken, chorizo and chilli or shredded pork with sweet chilli jam. Choose from main dishes such as a Thai style chicken curry, Moroccan meatballs or chilli chicken with garlic and yoghurt sauce served with rice. Don't miss their intense chocolate brownie for dessert. The drinks list features soft drinks, spirits, beers and a range of typically European wines.
