Palm Palace
80 South Road, Southall, UB1 1RD [Map]
Palm Palace is a modest eatery which aspires to be one of the best Sri Lankan and South Indian restaurants in Southall, and judging by the crowd inside they are not too far from their aim. This family owned establishment has been steadily generating the right sort of buzz when it comes to maintaining the authenticity of their dishes and ensuring that customers are satisfied. Brilliant
72-76 Western Road, Southall, UB2 5DZ [Map]
What started as a mere 36-seater, has gone on to become a renowned restaurant with space for 250 people and has emerged as one of Southall's favourite venues for Indian cuisine. Brilliant Restaurant, in Western Road, is the brain child of brothers Kewal and Gula Anand who demonstrate their expertise in creating delicious North Indian fare, particularly Punjabi food, with an interesting Kenyan slant. Rust orange and dark brown seems to be the predominant theme in the decor, capturing the earthy tones of the food from the sub continent in a modern fashion.
Fresh ingredients and zesty spices come together in a glorious fusion of flavours, bringing starters such as tender lamb chops marinated in nutmeg, garlic and cardamom, roasted in a clay oven, followed by a main course of minced chicken cooked in a dry sauce, seasoned with homemade garam masala. At Brilliant, seafood options such as karahi prawns are also an excellent choice, with king prawns tossed with fresh red and green capsicums. Finish with a warm dessert of grated carrots reduced in milk and topped with almonds.
