Ernie Beckett
21 Market Street, Market Place Corner, Cleethorpes, DN35 8LY [Map]
Ernie's is known not only for the sheer excellence of his fish and chips (haddock only, please, which is just as well given the meltdown of the cod stocks), but also the virulent green of his mushy peas. Cooked in beef dripping, coated in a top secret batter, the fish is straight from Grimsby a few miles up the road. Delicious homemade fish cakes provide a quality comfort food option and the chips are cut in their own kitchen.
The décor derives from the maritime pattern book, and with 38 seats the atmosphere is cosy and neighbourhood-inclined.

Boaters Beach Restaurant
The Terminus, Promenade, Cleethorpes, DN35 8SF [Map]
Mick and Alison Taylor warmly welcome guests in to Boaters Beach, a restaurant complex where excellent food and a beautiful ambience are complimented by spectacular sea views across the Humber. The art deco building can be found adjacent to the pier, on the promenade at Cleethorpes, and two restaurants, Boaters Beach, and Boaters Marbella offer their own distinctive experience and style.
Start your day with breakfast or order food from a varied lighter menu during the day. An exciting 2-for-1 evening menu offers a fantastic set of dishes such as Angus steak and ale pies, a Cajun chicken and scampi platter; chef's specials of pan-seared duck mixed with a red onion, thyme, and vine tomato confit, and the mega mixed grill with a 3oz fillet, pork steak, gammon lamb chop, two sausages, an egg, and garden peas.
Popular musical nights are hosted on a regular basis and Boaters Beach caters for functions and special events. If you have the time, don't forget to ask Mick about how Boaters was officially opened by Prince Charles when he visited the Grimsby area!

Restaurant at Kingsway Hotel
Kingsway, Cleethorpes, DN35 0AE [Map]
This splendid seafront hotel, owned by the same family over four generations, offers forty-nine ensuite bedrooms, many of which command fine sea views whilst others are situated around a beautiful roof garden.
The dining facilities are second to none and the Restaurant at Kingsway Hotel has splendid views over the Humber Estuary to the North Sea. Guests can enjoy Head Chef Guy Stevens' daily changing international dishes either from the host table or à la carte menus.
Some of the dishes that emerge from the kitchen could include rolls of courgette stuffed with goats' cheese and lemon, or a griddled polenta cake with garlic and parmesan served with ratatouille chutney topped with a fried medallion of chicken.
Among main courses roast Lincolnshire turkey comes to the table with forcemeat stuffing, chipolata sausage and cranberry sauce; grilled medallions of fresh monkfish are served on fresh asparagus finished with melted red wine, and a pine nut and parsley butter.
The restaurant offers private dining in the stylish Tennyson suite, and caters for intimate group meals and private parties.
