The smart restaurant offers an eclectic menu of dishes that are created using locally produced ingredients. Starters of lightly curried carrot soup with peas, pancetta and orange, marinated mackerel on toast with confit tomatoes, and beef carpaccio with parmesan, rocket and olive oil are all there to delight. Mains that impress include pigeon stuffed with wild mushrooms, fondant spinach and coq au vin, and blade of beef with textures of onion, feves and pomme puree.

Widely regarded as the oldest surviving English inn, the Angel and Royal Hotel, as it is known today, is a historic and much loved property many guests have enjoyed over the last eight-hundred years.
