Langton, The

Selected Restaurant

The Langton is an attractive addition to the good life in Cheltenham, conveniently close to the Racecourse and nestling in the heart of Charlton Kings. The charming, listed Regency house has been skilfully refurbished, guided by English Heritage, to produce a unique blend of organic, new and old features.

  • Address: 189-191 London Road, Charlton Kings, Cheltenham, GL52 6HT (Map)
  • Cuisine(s): English, Modern British, Gastropub
  • Avg. Cost Per Head Lunch: £18.00, Dinner: £28.00

Daffodil, The

Think Cheltenham, think Regency, think horseracing - and then think Daffodil. Whoever had the wit to acquire an art deco cinema and convert it into a stylish restaurant redolent of the roaring 20s, deserves a medal.

  • Address: 18-20 Suffolk Parade, Montpellier, Cheltenham, GL50 2AE (Map)
  • Cuisine(s): Modern European, Brasserie
  • Avg. Cost Per Head Lunch: £18.00, Dinner: £35.00

Hollow Bottom, The

It is not often one can say a pub is unique, but I really think I can cross my heart and say just that about The Hollow Bottom, not so much about the food and drink, though that is exemplary, but because of its close relationship with The Cheltenham Races.

  • Address: Winchcombe Road, Guiting Power, nr Cheltenham, GL54 5UX (Map)
  • Cuisine(s): English, Mediterranean
  • Avg. Cost Per Head Lunch: £20.00, Dinner: £32.00

ASK - Cheltenham

For some time I made the mistake of thinking that no group of restaurants in the region of 200 locations could hope to maintain the quality for which I was looking. Then one day I decided to put my prejudices to the test, walked into Oxford Ask! and discovered that I could not have been more mistaken.

  • Address: Hanover House, Montpellier, Cheltenham, GL51 9SD (Map)
  • Cuisine(s): Pizza & Pasta
  • Avg. Cost Per Head Lunch: N/A, Dinner: £22.00

Beehive Inn, The

There is nothing pretentious about the Beehive - a traditional British pub that has benefited from the more appealing influences of the gastropub movement, with an upstairs restaurant offering homemade food that instantly appeals.

Bistro at Hotel du Vin - Cheltenham

Another addition to the Hotel du Vin group, formerly the Carlton Hotel before extensive refurbishment, and now a landmark hotel in this sporting spa town. Replenishment of the inner man is conducted within a handsome bistro where al fresco dining is a combination of relaxation and good taste.

  • Address: Parabola Road, Cheltenham, GL50 3AQ (Map)
  • Cuisine(s): European
  • Avg. Cost Per Head Lunch: N/A, Dinner: £30.00

Brasserie Blanc - Cheltenham

One of the greatest pleasures in life for celebrity chef Raymond Blanc is sharing a good meal with family and friends. He achieves this through Brasserie Blanc, where his team take great joy in serving authentic French cuisine in a modern, brasserie atmosphere.

  • Address: The Queen's Hotel, The Promenade, Cheltenham, GL50 1NN (Map)
  • Cuisine(s): French, Modern, Brasserie

Cafe Paradiso at Alias Hotel Kandinsky

There is more than a hint of Casablanca about the Hotel Kandinsky - or as their website puts it 'an air of mild eccentricity'. One half expects to see Bogart eyeing you speculatively from behind some of the mobile greenery with which the hotel is well endowed.

  • Address: Bayshill Road, Montpellier, Cheltenham, GL50 3AS (Map)
  • Avg. Cost Per Head Lunch: £18.00, Dinner: £40.00
