Quills Restaurant
The Feathers Hotel, High Street, Ledbury, HR8 1DS [Map]
Ledbury's High Street is dominated by a beautiful black and white building, which has been a popular place for weary travellers to relax since Elizabethan times. Even though it offers many modern facilities to unwind in comfort, much of the original character of the building is retained in the bedrooms with the beamed walls and ceilings and antique furniture.
The recently refurbished Quills Restaurant, one of the three dining destinations at The Feathers Hotel, offers diners a chance to enjoy views of the bustling market town while sampling traditional British dishes in a friendly and relaxed environment.
Trust a warm salad of black pudding and caramelised apples with sage and Stowford cream to set the stage for a main course of Scottish Highland venison medallions, Bramley apple bubble and squeak, oven roasted parsnips and Madeira or a fantastic lemon infused organic Shetland salmon fillet.
The Top Bar and Lounge offers a great setting to relax over wines, ales, and award winning local ciders.

The Seven Stars
11 The Homend, Ledbury, HR8 1BN [Map]
Tucked away on the Homend and a short walk from Ledbury's grand old Market House is The Seven Stars, originally built in the 16th century and reputedly the oldest inn in town. After a serious fire largely destroyed it in 2001, the Grade II listed coaching inn was painstakingly brought back to its original glory and once again offers guests a true taste of English hospitality.
The interior that has been updated to make diners feel comfortable still exudes an unmistakable traditional charm that helps it hold hands with the building's half-timbered cream exterior and red-tiled roof.
Owners Paul and Nikki Baker offer simple, homemade British dishes that are created from prime local produce and rare-breed meats. Both locals and visitors enjoy the food and relax over a range of beers, cider, wines and spirits.
Three oak beamed ensuite bedrooms at The Seven Stars, which include a double and two family rooms, offer guests a chance to stay a night or two in Ledbury.

Malthouse
Church Lane, Ledbury, HR8 1DW [Map]
Ken Wilson and Jamila Belkoniene have been running The Malthouse in Ledbury since 2004. Approached along one of Ledbury's historic cobbled lanes, the restaurant is cosily tucked away off the beaten track in a converted barn.
Choose between two different dining areas and enjoy a fine modern British or continental meal. Pre-dinner drinks can be taken in the welcoming upstairs lounge or in good weather in the quiet little walled courtyard.
The Malthouse has steadily built up a reputation for providing excellent food in a relaxed, friendly and informal atmosphere; hardly surprising that it was recommended by the 2009 Good Food Guide. On a short but exciting à la carte, a passion fruit and citrus cured organic sea trout, smoked salmon, fennel salad, mixed shoots and citrus dressing could share the bill with potato gnocchi, rabbit, and crayfish with a spiced crayfish cream sauce. Main courses range from sautéed rib eye of beef to roasted chump of lamb in a honey lavender marinade with fondant potato, beans, spinach, carrot purée and herb sauce.
A well constructed wine list complements the food well.

Fuggles Brasserie
The Feathers Hotel, High Street, Ledbury, HR8 1DS [Map]
Ledbury's High Street is dominated by a beautiful black and white building, which has been a popular place for weary travellers to relax since Elizabethan times. Even though it offers many modern facilities to unwind in comfort, much of the original character of the building is retained in the bedrooms with the beamed walls and ceilings and antique furniture.
The AA rosette Fuggles Brasserie, one of the three dining destinations at The Feathers Hotel, is named after an English hop variety and offers traditional and modern British cuisine in a lovely hop-bedecked setting.
Head Chef Suzie Isaacs does wonders with rural Herefordshire produce, and proof of her passion and hard work lies in such dishes as ham hock and poached quail's egg with garden pea puree and Italian parsley croute, mains of stone bass fillet with lime, chilli and ginger risotto or breast of guinea fowl with Szechwan pepper scented Parmentier potatoes, sautéed leeks and chorizo.
The Top Bar and Lounge offers a great setting to relax over wines, ales, and award winning local ciders.

Mrs Muffins Teashop
1 Church Lane, Ledbury, HR8 1DL [Map]
One of the oldest streets of this thriving market town in rural England is home to a traditional 17th century black and white timbered building where a classic English teashop called Mrs. Muffins is located. Features such as flagstone floors, exposed beams, and a cobbled lane give guests a chance to go back in time. While the main part of the shop has two cosy tearooms, another, with a secluded courtyard, offers al fresco dining.
Coming to the food, a vast majority of the ingredients come from local and wherever possible, organic sources. You could visit them at breakfast time, which lasts until 12pm or pop in anytime before 4:30pm and feast on treats such as Herefordshire ploughman's, oven-baked jacket potatoes, toasted and gourmet sandwiches or panini, and the real treat, homemade scones served with local clotted cream and strawberry champagne preserve, a pot of tea or glass of sparkling white wine.
Mrs. Muffins sells homemade cakes, scones, chutneys and preserves, ice creams and juices on the premises.

Verzon House
Hereford Road, Trumpet, Ledbury, HR8 2PZ [Map]
Tucked away in the heart of rural Herefordshire, Verzon House is a charming refuge that made a humble beginning as a farmhouse in 1790. The world has changed much in more than two-hundred-years of the hotel's existence but the views it offers over an unspoilt country landscape stretching as far as the Malvern Hills are as pretty as they were years before.
Features such as original cornices, an inlaid staircase and open fireplaces appear alongside modern ensuite bedrooms that are refurbished to a high standard. The hotel's Brasserie welcomes guests with its magnificent Victorian fireplace and earthy colours. Noteworthy is the fact that everything from the bread to the rosemary roasted nuts is made in house. European and modern British dishes all created from locally sourced produce could consist of ravioli of salmon, crab and lobster with tarragon and chive sauce, and a rack of Peter's pork spare ribs roasted in his special sauce with pilau rice and shrimp.
Stop by at The Mulberry Bar for an enjoyable pint of Wye Valley Ale or a light lunch.
