Restaurant at Goldstone Hall
Goldstone Hall, Market Drayton, TF9 2NA [Map]
Located to the south of Market Drayton and overlooking the Shropshire and Staffordshire countryside, the family-run Goldstone Hall is often referred to as one of the finest small hotels in Great Britain. The Georgian manor house welcomes guests with open fires and a blend of ancient and modern architectural styles and facilities.
You could relax in one of their twelve individually styled bedrooms, enjoy a glass of champagne on the lawn, or visit the restaurant for a great British meal. A well-stocked kitchen garden and abundant local produce give the menu a firm foundation that has been recognised by the AA with two rosettes.
Consider starting your meal with seared pigeon breast that appears in the company of shredded confit of duck leg with Hidalgo Clásica syrup and pear chutney before progressing to a main course of braised ox cheek with swede and horseradish mash, bath chaps and purple potatoes. Desserts are a treat, whether it is a pumpkin brûlée with praline crisps or plum and almond tart with cassis cream.
The Hall and gardens are attractive venues for weddings.

The Cottage Restaurant at Ternhill Farm House
BookTernhill Farm House, Market Drayton, TF9 3PX [Map]
Originally part of a working farm, the house was bought by Mike and Jo Abraham and completely renovated giving it a new character that combines original oak panels and pine floors with contemporary luxuries. The interior of the small and cosy cottage restaurant features fresh cream and white décor accented with terracotta and chocolate brown. The kitchen has been awarded the prestigious AA rosettes for its modern British cuisine.
Start with tender pieces of marinated chicken fillets on crisp shredded iceberg lettuce, drizzled with a rich peanut dressing and flakes of smoked mackerel combined with spring onions, horseradish, capers, parsley and mashed potato, served with a beetroot salsa. For mains you could order fillet of beef bourguignon and aga-baked breast of chicken with tomato, prawns and fresh fennel, finished with cream and a hint of Pernod, served with fragrant basmati rice. A banana marmalade sponge pudding will provide the right ending to the sumptuous meal.

Restaurant at Rosehill Manor Hotel
Tern Hill, Market Drayton, TF9 2JF [Map]
Standing in spacious private gardens, Rosehill is an elegant manor house dating from the 16th century. Its peaceful atmosphere, comfortable accommodation and straightforward yet delicious food make it an excellent place to visit for a short break or simply to get away from it all.
Once you reach Rosehill Manor, the warm ancient beamed bar is an inviting setting to relax over good wine; in the summer make the most of long sunny days sitting on the patio. The hotel's nine bedrooms are all ensuite and offer views of the gardens or adjacent countryside.
Coming to the dining facilities, the intimately designed Red Rosette restaurant presents a regularly changing à la carte of traditional British and French dishes that could open with starters of duck and bean sprouts in soy sauce with pepper and ginger, and game pancake in a rich Madeira and mushroom jus. Main courses embrace spiced Thai pork curry with coconut milk, water chestnuts and coriander on a bed of rice and supreme of salmon with a herb crust and citrus sauce.
Rosehill Manor has a lovely conservatory that is a well-know venue for civil weddings.
