If you're wondering which among starters of stir-fried lamb; a baked cottage cheese salad, or tandoor grilled king prawns with cheese and black pepper is the best for you, do not hesitate to seek advice from one of the helpful staff.

Mains take in traditional vindaloo, korma, dopiaza and Madras curries, all created with varying levels of spice; newer varieties such as murg-e-nashilee, chicken seasoned with onions and roast poppy seeds or jhinga saag, prawns with spinach and garlic, and exciting vegetarian dishes like tangy Parsi vegetable dhansak. Accompaniments of peshawari naan or pilau rice make meals complete.

A local dessert maker creates a range of Indian sweets that could include kulfi, or cointreau ice cream on ginger biscuit, served with a chocolate sauce. A range of beers, cider, juices and cocktails complement the food.

Only a few minutes drive from Eastnor Castle, The Wellington Inn is a traditional country pub located on the western face of the Malvern Hills just below the British Camp, enjoying spectacular sunsets. Low ceiling, oak beams, log fires and warm décor that well complement the lively and friendly ambiance charm the locals and bring back frequent visitors.

Chef Paul Haywood and his team bring to the table a balance of snacks and traditional pub favourites along with more contemporary culinary works. Freshly prepared nibbles such as mussels steamed in white wine, cream and garlic and country pork served with toast and homemade chutney puff up the appetite. Watch out for the specials' board and expect the likes of smoked mackerel pâté accompanied by horseradish cream and granary toast. Finish with a homemade sticky toffee pudding topped with toffee sauce and vanilla ice cream.

The Wellington Inn is well ahead of the curve when it comes to real ales and as for the wine list, unusual, eclectic and extensive, are a few words that come to mind.

This is an unlikely find in somewhere like Malvern Wells. Is this part of the relentless spread of ethnic cuisines westwards from the Midlands? Be that as it may here in an inoffensive white painted old house is this well-rated south-east Asian restaurant offering attractive dishes from Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and Singapore. The flavours are distinctive and well defined, nor are any liberties taken with the integrity of the more classic dishes. There is a good wine list, some 40 strong.
