Situated in Cutnall Green, Rajdoot Tandoori is a new addition to the fine dining scene in Worcestershire. Previously The New Inn has been transformed and extended to create a luxurious restaurant and bar. The romantic dining room and the conservatory combine the idealistic Indian richness with moody dramatic lighting and is decorated with artifacts from the sub-continent. The venue reflects an eclectic mix of the finest modern Indian craftsmanship in a sophisticated and contemporary setting.

Kick start your meal with Rajdoot platter, a selection of chicken and fish tikka, tandoori prawn and sheekh kebab, served on a platter or the vegetarian selection of paneer tikka, vegetable samosa, and onion bhajee. If you fancy something more filling then order diced leg of lamb braised in yoghurt with traditional greens, and served laced with cream butter, or venison meat cooked and served over a tongue tickling array of Indian spices along with a variety of Indian breads to hand on the menu.

With panoramic views overlooking the Malvern Hills, Farthings Restaurant at the Bank House Hotel, Bransford is a traditional place that offers diners twin pleasures of good food coupled with serene and beautiful surroundings. Using only the freshest English ingredients sourced from local markets, the dishes served are native to the place incorporating a slightly modern twist.

Guests can choose from the standard or à la carte menu that is served by friendly staff or they can settle for a more informal lunch or snack which can be had at the lounge alongside.

A wide selection of fine wines and spirits complements the meal perfectly, all in all making the experience memorable and long-lasting.

For those who find The Lygon Arms a trifle overpowering in whatever way, Oliver's is the answer. Carrying the same high degree of excellence of its parent, to which it is attached, but with its own entrance, the name is well-chosen and Cromwell, who by all accounts enjoyed his victuals as well as the next man, would surely have approved.

The emphasis is on traditional food served in a modern way. Several of the starters can be obtained as main courses but my choice would be for the slow baked tomato and spring onion soup, an enchanting combo which, given the right critical balance, is memorable.

A real piece of indulgence would follow in the form of spicy pork dumplings with baked aubergine, soft noodles and sweet and sour sauce. The link with next door could be celebrated by that wonderful iced Lygon port parfait with wild cherries and mint in Kirsch brandy.

Behind the Georgian façade lurks a 16th century inn, much of the character of which has survived. The Pepperpot Brasserie with its oak beams makes a good setting for the contemporary menu. The avocado pear with flaked crab, shrimps and smoked salmon comes with a light grain mustard dressing. For those of a certain disposition the swordfish steak with a creamy curry sauce and fried bananas holds an awful lot of appeal.

To finish, well for me there's a choice between a good old-fashioned Knickerbocker Glory and the warm chocolate nut brownie with ice cream and chocolate sauce. No points at all for not offering a savoury but I do realise this is a largely personal eccentricity. Small but good wine list with four house wines from £11.95.

With a menu offering modern European cuisine, the restaurant at the 4 star Holiday Inn Birmingham- Bromsgrove is the perfect venue for a quiet lunch or an intimate dinner. Located on Kidderminster Road, just a few minutes away from junctions 4 and 5 of the M5, the restaurant is set in a beautiful white washed building amidst sprawling lawns, with a large airy dining area which is an ideal venue for special occasions, be it a birthday, an anniversary or a family get-together.
 
The restaurant serves a wide variety of contemporary British dishes, including both traditional and modern recipes with the a la carte menu including classics such as beef wellington alongside more exotic fare like pan-fried scallops with black pudding mash. Ingredients are sourced locally where possible, including the poultry, seafood and vegetables, which are procured from local markets. Guests can savour their meal while taking in the magnificent views across the Lickey Hills.
