Mug House, The

A very traditional English pub, one of only two known that are located in churchyards. This, as you may imagine, leads to sometimes slightly unseemly comment regarding the neighbours, over 15,000 of them laid to rest over the centuries but nobody minds for the place is a haven to good honest fun and companionship.

Oak Room Restaurant at The Studley Castle, The

Deep in the tranquil Warwickshire countryside, Studley Castle is a stunning mock-medieval castle built in 1833 close to the town of Redditch. Its elegant Oak Room restaurant has a high vaulted and beamed ceiling hung with imposing chandeliers, which forms a dramatic backdrop to the modern British cooking on the menu.

Oliver's Brasserie

For those who find The Lygon Arms a trifle overpowering in whatever way, Oliver's is the answer. Carrying the same high degree of excellence of its parent, to which it is attached, but with its own entrance, the name is well-chosen and Cromwell, who by all accounts enjoyed his victuals as well as the next man, would surely have approved.

Parador Restaurant

Motorway hotels and eating houses come in for their share of criticism, so it is good to find an exception about which to enthuse. Well shielded from the more raucous manifestations of the M5, the restaurant brings a touch of the Mediterranean to an otherwise largely rural Worcestershire.

  • Avg. Cost Per Head Lunch: N/A, Dinner: £30.00

Peacock Inn, The

Since the 14th century weary travellers - and others - have been easing the pain within this atmospheric old coaching inn. As far as eating is concerned there is a choice between the split level lounge/dining room or the lofted bistro.
