Sadly the Phene Arms in London’s Chelsea has closed its doors for the moment owing to a dispute between the landlord and the leaseholder, leaving Chef Christian Sandefeldt, who has created a good reputation there for quality modern Scandinavian cooking, caught in the middle of the muddle.

L Restaurant and Bar in London's Kensington has replaced one of London’s landmark restaurants, Trattoo, created originally some forty years ago by the famous theatrical designer Sean Kenny for Mario and Franco, sadly in recent years it had reached the stage of being rather like a faded elderly lady badly in need of a complete make-over.

An auction on the 13th of November at Fiore Restaurant in London saw record prices paid for this season’s Alba truffles from Piedmont in Italy, with one bidder paying an incredible £63,908 for a 1.2 kilogram truffle, far higher than last year's previous best.
Welsh Winner in the Great British Bangers and Mash Clash

As part of British Sausage Appreciation Week 2005, chef Dai Davies, cooking for the Rhug Estate, Corwen, was crowned best bangers and mash cook in the region by Great British Battle Axe and sausage aficionado Christine Hamilton. The winning recipe was a Rhug Organic baby pork sausage served on a sweet potato mash following a hard fought clash in Manchester.
