It would be a great mistake to pass by this modest-looking establishment taken over recently by Gary and Joanna Thompson.

Overlooking the river at the back of the inn is a pleasant dining room in which a fairly short but well-chosen menu is available. Items of note are the smoked chicken and leek terrine with grain mustard yoghurt, succeeded by grilled chicken breast on Italian bean broth.

Home made ice-cream slips down well. The meals are supported by a simple and reasonably priced wine list with house wine at £8.95
