If you are looking for a place that has cosy ambience, local ale and wholesome home cooked food, The Feathers Inn is a great place to dine at. Located in Hedley on the Hill, this restaurant is not very easy to locate. Their reputation of good food, though, makes it worth the hunt for the place. The friendly décor with log fires indoors and seating outside, lend it a cosy atmosphere.
The Feather Inn boasts of at least three local ales and one guest wine on the menu, even available by the glass. Also on offer, are a range of dessert wines. The restaurant regularly hosts wine tasting evenings, which are very popular.
The Feather Inn source all their ingredients almost exclusively locally, and it infuses the daily changing menu with both a seasonal and traditional flavour at the same time. Their organic bread, puddings and pies are all homemade.
You could try the meal with a cream of plum tomato soup, a Caesar salad of Doddington's cheese or even chicken liver pate with chutney and organic toast. The main course could be goat's cheese, chestnut and wild mushroom pie, royal kidney heritage potatoes and buttered greens or grilled Stamford ham twenty eight day aged sirloin or fillet of beef, chunky chips, garden leaf salad and béarnaise. Perhaps, sample the local cheese, and round off your meal with summer fruit compote, greengages crumble with vanilla custard, or settle for Wheelbirk's icecream in wild cherry or dark chocolate flavours.
Voted a finalist in the recent UK TV Food Local Hero competition, the restaurant has made an impact on the local dining scene. So make sure you book in advance and step into the world of seriously good food.

Prudhoe, once a coal mining town is a small town just south of the river Tyne with a population of over 11,500 sited on a steep, north-facing hill. Eastern Spice is a cosy restaurant in this town offering an exciting Indian fusion menu that combines the tried and true curry house classics with innovative dishes and is quite popular among the locals. This is an ideal venue for fine dining with family and friends as it offers a relaxed, modern atmosphere with excellent service.
The menu lists special dishes like posh spice, chicken or lamb with fresh cream, sugar, egg and mango pulp, and joi Yorkshire, roast lamb cooked in Bengali style with light spices and served with Yorkshire pudding, sylheti sea bass, pan fried fillet of sea bass served with Thai chilli rice and red pepper sauce.
