Their restaurant features modern British cuisine and uses only the best locally sourced produce, sometimes also from the kitchen garden, while tender lamb and beef comes from Longwitton Farm nearby.

Within the a la carte menu, look for pan seared fillet of South Coast grey mullet served with citrus fruits and coriander amongst the starters and follow it up with breast of Goosnargh corn fed duck served with turnip puree, cabbage and cherries. The rich chocolate tart with summer berry compote is a fine way to conclude and the knowledgeable staff members are ever present to help you in choosing the right tipple from their extensive wine cellar.

Greenchesters Restaurant is open at weekends to enjoy a sumptuous afternoon tea or a Sunday lunch or use as a base to take advantage of all the interesting events that happen in this wonderfully scenic location.

The Borders is a traditional dining room. The Music Room, overlooking the sea, and the panelled Gallery offer the same high quality of service and food in a more intimate setting. A good place to unwind before the meal is the Duck and Grouse Bar, where an open log fire and discreet lighting helps create the tone. Game features largely on the menu and fresh seafood comes daily from Eyemouth. The generously stocked cellar spans both New and Old World.

A Grade 2 listed Georgian house of no little charm, surrounded by a golf course, which contains the Dobson Restaurant, offering tasty succour to golfers and supporters alike, from a changing menu. The confit of guinea fowl with bok choi, spring onions and ginger makes a refreshing starter, and could be followed with the grilled Toulouse sausage, accompanied by a lentil and potato cake, with red onion Lyonnaise. The baked blueberry and lime tart, encircled by a stem ginger Anglaise sauce could make a good fighting finish. By the way there is an optional homemade sorbet to cleanse the palate of the spring onions, if required.
