Restaurant at The Otterburn Tower
In many ways this historic country hotel is a celebration of local skills, produce and enterprise. The Chefs have their own kitchen garden. Nearby Longwitton Farm provides the finest lamb and beef, and with ingredients like these the chefs are well able to provide some of the best meals for many miles around, from recipes both old and new.

Restaurant at Tillmouth Park Hotel
A splendid baronial mansion built by Charles Barry, of new Westminster Palace fame and now providing a useful staging post en route to Scotland. As you might expect everything is gracious and comfortable, and the food is traditional and safe.

Sanctuary at The Castle, The
If I was the Percys I would milk H Potter and its association with my castle for all I could, so it comes as no surprise to see the Castle's new restaurant sensibly named The Sanctuary, particularly after you have become tangled up with the coach-loads of blue-rinses and fustian gardeners milling about outside.

Swallow George Hotel
One of the longer established members of the Swallow chain, the pleasant Riverside Restaurant is just that. Start with, say, a rilette of meats with a ceviche of beetroot. The roast pave of salmon with a Caesar salad was well-judged and mingled well with the milk chocolate truffle served with a compote of warm black cherries.

Tankerville Arms
An engaging old coaching inn, very popular with locals and visiting tourists alike, where the customer is treated as somebody they really welcome. The food is Northumbrian in character, but quite modern in interpretation.

Valley Restaurant, The
Corbridge is not the first place I would have looked for an Indian restaurant, and so it was all the more welcome when I did come across it. This is an Indian alright but it has interesting overtones of other cuisines creeping in here and there, for which it is even better.
