As the production of quality beef, chicken, fish and lamb has grown, prices have come down by comparison, and the simple and traditional art of minimally cooking dishes by chargrill, sealing in the flavours and tastes by intense heat has caught the public imagination.

All the steaks at Beefeater Grill are matured for a minimum of 28 days before being seasoned. Recently refurbished to a high standard, the Carlton Park Hotel Restaurant offers a fine dining room, where the food and service has gained a band of regular followers. The food is prepared using only the best fresh produce to create dishes with influences from as far away as India, to as close to home as Yorkshire itself. An oak wood suite and conservatory provide an elegant atmosphere for intimate dinners while the warm, library themed bar provides an ideal venue to unwind over a drink.

Expect to find roast crown of English turkey with chipolata sausage, savoury stuffing and pan gravy and homemade vegetable soup among the specials. The Sunday lunch could feature cascade of Greenland prawns set upon a trio of mix leaves and topped with Marie Rose sauce and pan fried button mushrooms finished in a shallot, white wine and garlic cream sauce. Desserts include choices such as chocolate cheesecake and mulled winter berry torte.
