Brasserie at Ox Pasture Hall
Lady Ediths Drive, Scarborough, YO12 5TD [Map]
Ox Pasture Hall has made quite a name for itself as one of those few luxury country house hotels that instils a feeling of striking freshness yet oozing rustic charm and style. Log burner, beamed ceiling and exposed stonework welcome diners into the charming Brasserie, that is open all day for friends, colleagues or just about anyone who'd like to catch up on some food, drink and friendly banter.
Their menu is relatively easier on the wallet when compared to the restaurant's, but the cooking is no less appealing and remains attuned to the seasons. A meal that could start with pressed ham hock terrine or tomato and goats' cheese tartlet, followed by chicken and mushroom pie, lamb shank, or grilled calves' liver with sage and onion mash, crispy bacon and red wine sauce. For dessert there may be a creamy mango rice pudding or white chocolate crème brûlée with shortbread biscuit.

The Courtyard Restaurant at Ox Pasture Hall
Ox Pasture Hall Country Hotel, Lady Edith's Drive, Scarborough, YO12 5TD [Map]
Located near the old established Yorkshire resort of Scarborough, Ox Pasture Hall looks out over 17 acres of its own landscaped gardens and grounds. Tucked away in a natural haven of meadows and woodlands it enjoys an affinity with the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, making it a wonderful setting for weddings, meetings and conferences, and events where some rural charm combined with peace and quiet in constantly to hand. All this only two miles from Scarborough.
Rooms are furnished to the highest standards with ground floor rooms set around a beautiful wisteria clad garden courtyard. Other rooms in the main Hall overlook perfectly manicured gardens, uniquely framed against the backdrop formed by Raincliffe Woods.
A refurbishment programme has just been completed the list of modern amenities includes direct dial telephones, data ports, WIFI, high speed internet access, hospitality tray, LCD flat screen, satellite TV channels, CD/MP3 players, writing desk and complimentary quality toiletries. The sort of services that have vanished from so many hotels, or are given grudgingly, are standard at Ox Pasture Hall.
The Courtyard Restaurant is the formal face of the dining here. A new Head Chef has quickly gained a reputation for beautifully prepared food, and his new menu would tempt the most reluctant or fussy appetite. Before the meal on a good summer's day diners will have the opportunity to enjoy drinks on the terrace overlooking the gardens and courtyard.
