It's bright, it's vivacious and it epitomises Italy perfectly, bringing you a lovely and continental setting, right here in the UK. Chic and modern elements fuse seamlessly with traditional charm and classic brasserie feel, and what you get is an ambience that resonates with a vibrant and contemporary buzz. The food is simply some of the best you can have outside Italy, and the fresh and superb quality ingredients along with the Neapolitan wood stone oven, makes sure that every dish is turned out authentically.

The fritto misto with fried squid, king prawn, asparagus and roasted garlic mayonnaise is a great way to begin, and crispy duck with honey roasted apples and Valpolicella red wine sauce makes a delicious main course. Pasta options are plentiful with favourites such as spaghetti carbonara and tagliatelle alla Bolognese; dessert includes the refreshing baked vanilla cheesecake with citrus blueberries.

Predominantly Italian, the wine list at Piccolino offers a number of choices alongside spirits and liqueurs.

When you have a meal at Da Nico's Italian Restaurant in Warrington, Cheshire the experience is similar to a  mini visit to Italy. Located on Lovely Street, this place is run by Italians who take pride in presenting authentic cuisine.

The owner Nico, whose love for food is almost legendary, established this restaurant in 1992 and it has carved a name for himself, both for the relaxed atmosphere and good food Da Nico offers. This hasn't been easy, as the location is not very glamourous. Under the watchful eye of Nico, who ensures that the attitude of the staff, the ingredients used and the cooking are all perfect, this restaurant has enjoyed success.

Da Nico's offers both indoor and outdoor dining and also caters to large gatherings and parties. Apart from the a la carte menu, do watch out for their daily specials too.

The restaurant strives to help the diner's gastronomic adventure begin as soon as the menu is read. Some of their tempting delicacies are  pepperoni alla ischitana, which is oven baked red peppers stuffed with seafood and tomato sauce; sliced bresaola, cured beef served with olive oil, lemon dressing, topped with rocket salad and parmesan flakes, called bresaola valtellinese.

There are interesting fresh pancakes, with filled crabmeat and Greenland prawns served with a dill sauce, called crespelle in granseola. Filletto del buon gustaio is grilled fillet steak served in a madeira wine sauce topped with tiger prawns and demy glace sauce. A rich and filling capessante alla Milanese is king scallops flambé with sambuca and served in a creamy saffron sauce with risotto alla Milanese. There are lighter options like the coda di rospo alla livornese, their oven baked monkfish fillet served in a light tomato sauce with olives, peppers and fresh herbs.

The good food at Da Nico's is nicely complemented by the exhaustive wine list and the personalised attention of the owner and the staff.
