The £10 million project also includes a 62 bedroom hotel as well as conferencing and event facilities.

The Med Restaurant at The Mawdsleys Hotel lies in the picturesque village of Mawdesley. Four generations ago the Mawdsley family were basket manufacturers and the building was known as Towngate Basket Works. In 1982, twenty years after it closed as the basket works the building was renovated and an eating establishment was opened. The popularity of the restaurant led to the development of the hotel, and great care was taken to preserve the character and attention to detail.

When it comes to the food, the á la carte menu offers a delicious choice of new and established tastes influenced by southern Europe. Expect to find choices such as mushroom and tarragon soup, smoked chicken and bacon salad, pan-fried pork fillet topped with ham and cheddar cheese, and poached lemon sole.

Desserts could include apple and walnut cheesecake, and strawberry brandy baskets served with a mint Chantilly cream. To match the food they offer a list of quality wines sourced from around the world.
