Kisii Restaurant (Whitley Bay)
We got to know about Kisii from friends who visit the restaurant on a frequent basis. As Asians there are not many places in the North East where an Asian family can go out for a decent meal. We went as a party of eight and were more than happy with the food we had and the service. It was home style cooking and we thoroughly enjoyed our starters and main courses. Most importantly it catered for the vegetarians. We even took home what was left and it was that good. We will go there again and as Asians we can cannot recommended a better place to eat in the North East than Kisii.
Pappa Ciccia - Munster Road (South of the River - East)
Pappa Ciccia has the most authentic Italian food around. My husband and I eat their all the time and not many people know they are one of the few places left with BYO even though they are fully licensed. We hope they never change.
Gilbey's - Old Amersham (Amersham)
My partner and I had a wonderful meal at Gilbey’s this week. The food was utterly delicious and the service was outstanding, attentive, warm and friendly without being intrusive at all - it was a special night for us, made all the more special by the food, ambience and staff. We highly recommend it.
Mansion, The (Leeds)
Going as a grown-up family to the annual Roundhay bonfire, we decided to try out the newly refurbished Mansion for a meal to round off the evening. We weren't disappointed. The venue is stunning for a start. The food, whilst not exactly cheap, was superb and value for money - the lamb shank that melted in the mouth, great French onion soup, and a smooth Chilean Pinot Noir, etc. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable and good fun. All in all a great night and we wouldn't hesitate to go back.
Stac Polly - Dublin Street (Edinburgh)
An impromptu dinner for eight of us resulted in the use of the private dining room on the ground floor level. The food was superb and the service was attentive, friendly and helpful. The price was very reasonable for the quality served up by the chef. The duck was first rate as were the various steaks enjoyed by the party. It’s highly recommended.
Cabbage Hall (Tarporley)
Fantastic food, surroundings and staff - a pleasure to visit with relaxed surroundings and beautiful décor. It’s worth a visit.
Dining Room at The Colintraive Hotel (Isle of Bute)
My partner and I ate at the bar and it was great. It’s informal and cosy in a peaceful location near the scenic Kyles of Bute coast. We both had the salad of fig, Parma ham and walnut with gorgonzola dressing. It was a good mix of flavours and very generous portion. I had 10 oz steak burger with homemade fries. The burger was big and delicious, reminded me of those served at 'Rare' in New York. My partner had the Isle of Bute rib eye steak, which he said was tender and tasty. We visited Bute the next day and it's good to know where your food comes from. We shared a croissant style bread and butter pudding and it was a battle of the spoons. We had a good Rioja and coffee and found it to be very reasonable for the quality.
Reflections Restaurant (Weston-super-Mare)
The proprietors prepared a buffet for my 50th birthday party. They catered for 100, though the food could have easily fed 150. Many people attending asked who the caterers were as the food was “excellent, amazing, brilliant and the best buffet food ever” - this is just a few of the comments. I was extremely pleased with not only the quality but the service. If marking the catering out of 100% I would say they score 100% plus. Thank you so much Jemma and Simon, and I hope we get to do more business in the future.
Makiyaki - Kingston (Kingston-upon-Thames)
I love this restaurant. The food is always excellent and so is the service. I have brought quite a few people, including my 90 year old mum- in-law, and they have all thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Woolpack Inn (Aylesbury)
The Woolpack is open again as of 4th November 2009. It is a fantastic restaurant better than before - definitely worth a visit.
