Burlington Restaurant (Skipton)

It would be easy for one to use the word pretentious about this experience, but that would take away too much from some of the best trained staff it has been my experience to meet in many a long moon. Their service standard and food knowledge is exceptional and whoever is responsible should be congratulated. The food is superb, the wine list beyond belief, and if very expensive, as an occasional extravagant pleasure well worth while. Personally I can't wait to save up to be able to afford my next visit.

Caveau, Le (Skipton)

This is an absolute delight of a restaurant. A varied menu and every item we ordered were done to perfection. The wine list is well chosen and not expensive. The members of staff are chatty and informative, and cannot do enough for you. An altogether happy experience I hope to repeat regularly over the years.

Nantyffin Cider Mill Inn (Crickhowell)

We decided to eat Sunday lunch at the Nantyffin and found the food to be very good indeed. The homemade lemonade was delicious and the service, warm and friendly. If I have a complaint, it is the cost. I don't object to paying £10 plus for a roast, but I would expect vegetables to be included in that and I do think that charging for bread is a bit over the top.

Ee-Usk - The Fish Cafe (Oban)

I have to agree with the reviews about the portion sizes and the staff, particularly the manager. I had the scallops and a spoonful of mash at £18 and my boyfriend had something fishy in a sauce and a spoonful of mash. The portion sizes were funny, well if it wasn’t for the price they would be. The other half had to order a second bread basket as he was still hungry after the meal. Fair enough, we should have complained sooner than at the end of the 'snack' but we did complain to a waitress who looked bemused until we asked for the manager who basically spoke to us like we were a pair of oiks who didn’t know good food and we were wrong. We tried to explain that the standard wasn’t particularly good to which he shrugged and walked off with a very condescending attitude.

Elliots Bar & Restaurant (Prestwick)

I visited Elliots for the first time with a group of thirty colleagues on Friday night. I was overwhelmed with the venue itself and the staff were so efficient and patient. The welcome we got at the reception desk was lovely and the girl explained all about the menu and suggested we might like to go through to the dance floor after our meal, which we did and thoroughly enjoyed it. I am almost 50 and yet did not feel out of place there. We can't wait to go back for future staff nights out and we've already made enquiries about Christmas.

Blackhouse - Leeds (Leeds)

All I can say is what a fantastic addition to the Leeds restaurant scene. Our first visit to see what Blackhouse had to offer was on Friday evening, and I am pleased to say our expectations were far exceeded. Our group of six arrived at 8.00pm to a full restaurant and bar, fabulous decor and a bustling ambience. We were seated in a fabulous booth and the service was fantastic. Although busy, our server could not have been more attentive, happy to deal with any of our requests. It is a refreshing change to have such great, dare I say genuine service. As for the food, trust me you will not be disappointed. Succulent tender steaks, cooked to perfection were enjoyed by four of us whilst two of us enjoyed a fabulous seafood platter, containing lobster, oysters, prawns and salmon. Having decided against starters, a couple of us decided on dessert - the only thing I can say there is that the sticky toffee pudding was to die for. We would definitely recommend and will be returning in the near future.

Elliots Bar & Restaurant (Prestwick)

I could not disagree more with the last comment. I have always found the stewards very welcoming and friendly at Elliots. I am a regular who loves the atmosphere, friendly staff, who couldn't do more for you, and the delicious food. I would recommend Elliots to anyone looking for a lively, quality night out.

Mantra Contemporary Indian Dining (Hounslow)

I had a large party booking at Mantra in their Moroccan influenced marquee out at the back. The meal and service were excellent and no demand was too great.

Twisted Oak, The (Exeter)

We visited a family in Ide in May and were told to try The Twisted Oak. We did and I must say we loved it, so much so we went there three times. The pub itself is well laid out and decorated. The food was excellent and well presented. The staff were pleasant, especially the barman from Rugby, he is a great asset to the management. We will definitely visit again.

Restaurant Noel (Teddington)

Wow! I went to Noel's for the first time on Saturday and have fallen in love with this place. The food was delicious; we spent the whole evening passing forks of food around the table so everyone could taste each other's dishes. The members of staff were so friendly and recommended our wines without fault. The highlight was when Noel himself managed to escape the kitchen and found the time to sit with us over coffee, allowing us to grill him with questions about the food we had just devoured. What a patient, talented and dedicated chef. Ten out of ten!
