St Helena, The (Bedford)
When I first walked through the entrance of St Helena, I thought there couldn't be much more an amazing restaurant in the world. The setting was beautiful, and the food was out of this world. The hospitality was wonderful and couldn't hope for anything better. I will certainly be coming back later this year.
Restaurant at The Victoria Hotel (Beeston)
I have visited this pub numerous times over the last two years. I can whole heartedly recommend their superb selection of real ales and the wonderful ambience of a truly traditional pub. However, the quality of the food has slipped somewhat from what I always considered to be super food at a reasonable price, to a fairly mediocre standard. The spannokopittas for instance mentions feta cheese but I am dubious as to whether the contents even came close to any cheese let alone a nice salty feta. The Thai prawn curry could have come from a jar. I have had better and probably could not honestly recommend the food, but for you real ale fans, it is superb.
ASK - Liverpool (Liverpool)
The food, ambience, members of staff and location were excellent but the manager was extremely rude.
Pizza Express - Petersfield (Petersfield)
In addition to my earlier comments, I would like to say that I am soon moving from the area of Petersfield and have to admit that Pizza Express is what I am going to miss the most. Friends may come and go, but great food will last forever. Viva Italia and Viva Pizza Express!
Ginger Fox, The (Brighton)
We have just been to the Ginger Fox having driven by several times thinking it might be interesting. It was a lovely day so we decided to eat outside. Initially the members of staff were very friendly and the service was good. When I saw the menu I was a little disappointed as I expected slightly more choice and the main course prices surprised me slightly but we made our choices and the starter came quickly. I had the very pleasant sweet corn and clam chowder after I had ordered the quail, which they had run out of - it was only mid lunch time so why had they run out? My partner had the basil, pine nut and Parmesan battered parcels. Both were well cooked and full of flavour and perfect for a starter. My main course was a duck dish with a spring onion and potato patty with a mizo dressing and pak choi with sesame seed dressing. This was okay but the duck was slightly overcooked and the dressing was lacking outright punch. My partner had the falafel, which was served on a slate and looked really nice. In reality it was again okay but was lacking in overall flavour but hers was better value at £10 where mine was below average at £16.50. This is where I got annoyed. I received the dessert menu, which was very disappointing with only a few semi interesting items that I could choose from so I made my decision and waited and waited for 20 minutes until finally two other waitresses pointed at us and one came over. By this time I was so annoyed I just wanted to go. Of course getting the bill took a further 10 minutes as they had only one pdq card machine in the whole place and it was playing up. Overall I thought it was a lovely setting but average. Would I go back, maybe?
Parilla, La (Swansea)
We found La Parilla by chance on a weekend visit to Swansea and were tempted by the lunch menu so booked a table straight away. We only waited 25 minutes for our table and there was no queue at that time to order food. The quality of food for the price was impressive and the service was fine. We enjoyed the busy atmosphere as much as everything else.
Frankie & Benny's New York Italian Restaurant & Bar - Southport (Southport)
We went to the Southport’s Frankie and Benny's last night after being highly recommended by friends. On entering we got a drink while waiting for a table, after they let us buy a drink we were shown to a table and only then we were told that they had no burgers, chicken wings, potato skins or chips. If we hadn't already purchased a drink we would have left and gone to one of the many other places to eat at Ocean Plaza. The service from the young waitress was impeccable and she went out of her way to help us - full marks to the waitress. Unfortunately we were very disappointed about the lack of choice as the burgers were very highly recommended.
Cafe Strudel (South of the River - West)
Excellent food, fantastic dessert, nice interior and good service - good all round! I’d definitely recommend it.
Ram's (Harrow)
The food at Ram’s has always been excellent. They take such care in what they serve to their customers. The waiters are very friendly and engaging, and always try to make your time there a pleasant experience. Every time I eat at Ram’s I am glad I have done so and would recommend it.
Krimo's Restaurant (Hartlepool)
Fantastic food and first class friendly staff! We will see you there this Saturday to celebrate our dad’s 63rd birthday.
