Loch Fyne - York (York)

Absolutely fantastic food, although service was a bit slow and some of the dishes were unavailable as they didn't have the ingredients. They ran out of vodka as well. My only gripe was the addition of 10% service charge as there were seven of us - the food was very expensive to begin with, and the main courses were priced as just that - main courses - if you wanted vegetables they were £2.50 extra and if you wanted potatoes or chips they were also £2.50, potentially adding £5 to the cost of the already expensive main courses. I would go again, but I think next time I will try the lunchtime or evening fixed price menu.

India Quay (Glasgow)

We are a dining quartet of four respectable, middle-aged men who dine regularly of an evening in various restaurants throughout the city and have been pleased by this place in the past. However, on our last visit we found the experience to be rather unpleasant. Right from when we got in the door, Sunday evening at around 8.00 pm and the place was not busy, we found the attitude of the staff to be based around a 'get them in and get them out' basis. They tried to run us at the buffet food trays before we even got to sit down! We were hungry but not that hungry. No real complaints about the food but we all discussed the staff behaviour later in the pub and came to the conclusion that we had been hurried out of the door for the last time as we would not grace them with our presence again.

Phansits Kitchen (Bideford)

My husband and I live in Ilfracombe - forty minutes away from Bideford. When we feel the mood for some great fusion or Thai food we are more than happy to make the journey - discussing en-route the delicious feast that awaits us. Phansit and Sarah provide wonderful food, and a fabulous ambience – laid-back, relaxed and amiable with amazing dishes like jungle curry, spicy crab salad, or sea bass with Thai spices. As for the desserts - give me anything with coconut ice cream and I'm happy, give it to me with crispy bananas and I'm in heaven. This place is nothing short of amazing.

Galleries Inn, The (Cheddar)

My partner, sister and husband went for meal at this inn, the food was superb and the members of staff were very friendly. We would recommend this place for a very well presented and satisfying meal at a reasonable price. When we go to Cheddar again, we will be sure to visit Galleries Inn.

Broad Street Restaurant (Lyme Regis)

My husband and I ate at Broad Street last night whilst on holiday in Lyme Regis. The restaurant itself is beautiful even though it is in a cellar. We were lucky enough to be given what we considered to be the best table under the arched window. The food was delicious but the portions were a bit on the small side. There was no salt or pepper on the tables and I felt the food was under seasoned. We were offered water and told they only have tap water, which makes a refreshing change in a restaurant these days. I would certainly recommend this restaurant.

Texas Embassy Cantina (SW1, Belgravia & Westminster)

I pass the Texas Embassy everyday on the bus and stopped in the other day for dinner. The restaurant is what you would imagine it to be; brash, American and loud and the food definitely better than average. We had tortilla crisps and my favourite Tex-Mex staple ‘queso’ melted cheese with spices and for dinner I had chicken fajitas served sizzling with all the stuffing as well, I'm not a fan of sour cream so they gave me extra guacamole, which was great service and very tasty too. My partner had a steak with mash, which was well cooked and the mash was excellent. We shared a bottle of wine, though I was tempted to have a margarita too but I'll save that for next time. Service was also as expected from an American restaurant.

Texas Embassy Cantina (SW1, Belgravia & Westminster)

The Texas Embassy is a great place to stop in for lunch on the weekend with the girls for a great salad and a couple of cocktails. When the weather is nice they have a patio, which entices you to try a pecan pie or an ice cream too.

Winckley Square Chop House (Preston)

My husband and I dined at the Winckley Square Chophouse last Saturday for my birthday. It was an excellent evening from start to finish. The décor and surroundings are very comfortable, a mix of modern with a classical twist. There were plenty of vegetarian choices for myself, I opted for the baked tomato and basil tart whilst my husband chose the breast of Goosnargh duck with apple and glazed beetroot. He said it was fabulous. The service was professional without being intrusive. We will definitely be revisiting in the near future.
