Restaurant at Carrick Lodge Hotel (Ayr)
I have eaten there on a few occasions and can't say enough about the great food, wonderful staff and value for money. There is a real nice atmosphere in the restaurant and the decor is just lovely. I will not hesitate to eat there again and can strongly recommend it.
Dukes 92 (Manchester)
A choice of two cheeses or a cheese and pâté with half a granary loaf is the standard fare for lunch and requires a good appetite to clear the plate. It is excellent with no frills, just quality ingredients. A draft beer of the day plus a choice of wine is worth the visit for an hour or two. My wife and I have returned to lunch there for over ten years as occasional visitors from the Fens. The atmosphere is very good although there is no music. We will be back in the summer.
Porters English Restaurant (Covent Garden & Theatreland)
Visited Porters today, for the three course fixed price table d'hote menu for £15 offer, that I booked online via Restaurant Guide. Fantastic meal and service, and 'wow' what wonderful puddings. English food at its best. Well done Porters, will be visiting again soon.
Julie's Restaurant & Bar (Kensington & Notting Hill)
I celebrated my thirtieth birthday there last weekend and had a great time. We were a party of twenty and everyone loved the garden room and the food. My husband called ahead to organise a cake for me and said the manager was very helpful in recommending a local cake maker and organising everything. I’d definitely recommend it for a special celebration and look forward to going back there for a quiet evening.
Junipers Restaurant & Cafe Bar (Cockermouth)
The food and service is great.
Restaurant at Haley's Hotel (Leeds)
We ate at Restaurant at Haley’s Hotel recently in anticipation of attending a wedding there. The hotel is beautiful but the restaurant is a little austere and service rather slow - or is it just authentic French influence? However, the food is faultless and the presentation is minimalist but the fantastic flavours more than make up for the small portions. We were very satisfied at the end of the meal. I wish it was busier to generate more atmosphere, but our meal was truly outstanding.
Porters English Restaurant (Covent Garden & Theatreland)
I’d like to say a big ‘thank you’ for three great evenings. Everyone really loved the restaurant, food and excellent service - it was all so straightforward. I did tell all it was ‘Weight Watchers’ approved.
Cafe Balzac (West London & Hammersmith)
We ate there last night and I have to say this place is a real find. It's highly unusual to find a place in London, which combines genuine quality and originality with value for money - but this place somehow manages to do it. I think this is more of a bistro or brasserie type of place. The menu is completely varied. I had battered frog's legs for an entrée, an excellent Gazpacho soup to follow, and salmon and crab fishcakes for mains. My companion thought his bruschetta for starter was excellent, and I could barely get more than a grunt out of him while he was stuffing down his main course of coq au vin, pancetta mash and vegetables. The whole bill, including a couple of beers, came to £28 for the both of us. We didn't try desserts as we were both stuffed, but the selection looked excellent and good value.
The ambience was relaxed and non-pretentious, and the service was just how I like it - attentive and efficient without them buzzing round you all night. This place has a small bar section too. I will definitely go back.
Grafton House Restaurant and Bar (South of the River - West)
Grafton House Restaurant is a place I'd definitely be going back to. They serve lovely food, which is great value for money. I went with a group of friends and ordered from the a la carte menu - my steak was yummy. The staff were extremely attentive and polite, and the atmosphere was perfect. All in all, it was an excellent restaurant.
Nolita (Hatfield)
What a pleasure! Nolita has brought a touch of the West End to North London. Eating al fresco was delightful. The service was excellent; the food was delicious and very good value for money. Not overly expensive, but naturally you pay for the best.
