Rockwell Bar and Restaurant, The (SW1, Belgravia & Westminster)

Sadly, the bar on the roof did not live up to the reviews. The experience starts with a bouncer requiring a non refundable cash payment of £5 per person as a cover charge! The roof terrace was extremely small and was crammed with people. There was no place to put your drink down and they had run out of Pimms, which seemed to be the only cocktail on offer from their limited selection. It was very disappointing.

L'Escargot - Ground Floor Restaurant (Mayfair, Soho & Fringes)

As a seasoned restaurant visitor, I was excited about my upcoming visit to L'Escargot for the first time, but I left completely disappointed. The service was nonexistent and the food was bland.

No 4 Wood Street (Mansfield)

We discovered 4 Wood Street shortly before moving out of the area. What a find, we now live in Cambridge, and without fail still visit the restaurant as it has to be the best restaurant in the area, and what value for money. The food is to die for and the service very good. It is not an expensive place to eat in at all.

Nolita (Hatfield)

I was amazed by the al fresco dinning area at Nolita. The food and service was great, and I really felt like I was in Italy. This was my first visit and I will definitely return.

Tas - Borough High Street (South of the River - East)

I think the Tas chain is very special. On many occasions I went there with my friends, girlfriend and family for special occasions. You can always ask for more bread, sour cream dip and olives. I am not sure if they still offer bottled water as they used to about two years ago. Prior to that, we could get a jug of tap water for free. Their house wine isn't too bad, but I'd recommend a red – the Merlot is good. Look out for the chef’s specials and they have at least six vegetarian mains. I’d recommend the apple stuffed with rice and cream. You are advised to book as it usually packed between Thursday and Sunday after 8pm. During the daytime, if you fancy a filling dish of starters, this place is ideal for a pica-pica. I wish there was more natural light coming in as there are only two to three tables next to the window.

On most nights there's a flamenco guitarist playing classical and other classical versions of popular songs. He does requests as well. For special surprises, the hotel provides a cake for a large group of people for a birthday. The service is attentive and on the whole excellent. Sometimes reserving a table can be a bit hard over the phone with junior members of staff. I always return there when I come back from Spain. That must tell you something!

Drewe Arms, The (Honiton)

The building is great, the atmosphere is good and so is the food. The man behind the bar might be busy on a Saturday night but to ignore two couples standing at the bar who have booked a table for dinner and would like a drink, falls well short of what you'd expect.

Richmond Room Restaurant (Chichester)

I was expecting great things there. While the menu looked tempting, what actually appeared on the plate was disappointing. Almost right but not quite there - perhaps the chef was off. The surroundings were lovely and the service was good. I would probably give it another go.

Cassons Restaurant & Bar (Chichester)

I was amazed by the previous reviewer’s comments on Cassons Restaurant. I have been eating there regularly for the past two years and find their service and food wonderful with incredibly good value for money. I usually eat at top London restaurants and think that this place is one among the best.

Nolita (Hatfield)

It was generally good, but extremely overpriced. You could get a better meal elsewhere for half the price. I was disappointed with the limoncello as it was not cold and did not even have any ice.

Restaurant at Dunkerley's Hotel (Deal)

I had a fantastic meal at Restaurant at Dunkerley’s Hotel. The presentation was magnificent and the food tasted wonderful. To make our evening even better, the staff were friendly and attentive. This place has great personality and is in a beautiful location. I will definitely go back on my next visit to Deal and would like to thank everyone there. If anyone has had a bad experience, they may have just been unlucky that day.
