Rasa - Newcastle-upon-Tyne (Newcastle-upon-Tyne)
I have dined at Rasa on a few occasions and found the service to be appalling. We felt very uncomfortable as they were pushy to clear the table. When we were paying our bill, the person just left the card and the bill on the table without uttering a word and left. I don’t think it is unrealistic to expect someone to say thank you for dining at their restaurant. They may serve good food but I don’t think I would like to dine in a place paying a lot of money and ending my busy day feeling terrible.
Derby Arms, The (Epsom)
I've been to The Derby Arms a couple of times and have had fantastic meals on both occasions. The first time I went was with my boyfriend and as we didn't book on a Saturday night, we waited until a table was available in the bar area and had a meal there. The bar and the restaurant have the same menu. The scallops, fish and chips, and steak were gorgeous. The second time was a family meal, and again the service and food was great. The waitress knew what ‘gluten free’ meant and managed to answer questions related to the ingredients, which is very rare. The decor is lovely as it has recently been refurbished and prices are reasonable for a gastropub. There is a great outdoor seating area as well. We go out to many restaurants and the Epsom area has been waiting a long time for this place like this. I thoroughly recommend it.
Mermaid Cafe (Hastings)
What can I say about Mermaid Café that has not been written in other articles? While visiting my family in Hastings, I always look forward to eating there and enjoying the atmosphere, but most of all the great fish and chips. There are other things on the menu to serve all appetites. The fish is fresh and caught from the sea opposite. Take time to sit outside, never mind the seagulls that surround the place, and watch the world go by. Now I realise how much I missed the place since moving away.
Aroy Thai (Maidenhead)
This place was recommended by a friend who liked the food, so went there to try the food. The green curry was amazingly delicious and the sizzling weeping tiger even tasted better. The lovely meal was complete with some special homemade dessert - Thai pancake, which was really nice. Great service and fantastic atmosphere – I’d recommend this place.
Zizzi - Leamington Spa (Leamington Spa)
I have been to Zizzi many times and I found the service and quality of food to be excellent. The staff are very friendly and are ready to cater for any special dietary requirements you may have.
Black Horse, The (Woburn)
My wife and my four year old dined at The Black Horse. The food was great and so was the service and friendly atmosphere. The staff were so friendly that they took care of my four year old. I am from India and my family felt welcomed at this establishment. I’d recommend this restaurant highly.
Challis Wine & Dine (Portsmouth)
It was not bad but not great either. We sat in the gangway and it was very quiet, so lacked a little atmosphere. The food was okay for the area but perhaps a little over priced. I don't think we will be back.
BlueFish Cafe & Restaurant, The (Portland)
The food is really good, the atmosphere relaxing, and the staff were friendly and attentive. I recommend it highly and will be going back.
Kashmir (Bradford)
In my opinion, they serve the finest Indian food in Bradford; particularly the garlic naan bread, which zings with fresh garlic. I don't know how the average price per head is calculated, but I regularly buy two meals and tip for £11.
Restaurant at Makeney Hall Hotel (Belper)
Both my daughters wedding receptions were held there - first class food and service. I had many evening and lunch time meals there. The food is excellent and the staff are very helpful, and they ensure that the service is second to none. I give them full marks!
