Have just stopped over at 22 mill street for one night after spending new year in cornwall. I had read a few reviews before booking and on the basis of these my expectations were high. After a brief tour around the perfect little village of Chagford my wife and I were looking forward to some fine food as promised by the reviews we had read. My wife, being vegetarian, has not always had the best of luck while dining out, even at some of the more reputable restaurants in the country. No such problem here. The whole meal, from start to finish, was a delight to our tastebuds and along with a very reasonably priced bottle of Pinot Noir from the wine list we had one of the best restaurant experiences of recent times. The staff were friendly and efficient and the atmosphere was relaxed. After a good nights sleep in one of the two rooms above the restaurant we arose refreshed to a hearty continental breakfast before we took a brisk walk on the frost covered common above Chagford. All in all, a perfect stopover. We will be returning in the near future.

A one night stop over at 22 Mill Street was the highlight of our holiday. It was hard to fault either the room or the menu and it was certainly one of the best meals we have had for a very long time and we loved the little surprises which came along as well. If we were to try hard to suggest improvement it would be to take a look at the starters. As we avoid foie gras it was disappointing to find that not just one but two of the options included it. This somewhat rather limited our choices.

We heard and read several good reviews for 22 Mill Street Restaurant but we were disappointed by their average food. The service was friendly but the waitresses were unable to answer several basic questions.

My fiancé and I visited 22 Mill Street on recommendation from a family friend and it was even better than what they had described. We had the taster menu and every course was exquisite. The front of house staff were friendly and certainly knew their products. The chef and his staff deserve a huge compliment.

Recently stumbling across this little restaurant, we were nothing less than astounded by the all round experience. Firstly, we were met by extremely pleasant front of house staff who could not have done any more for us. This was followed by what can only be described as a mesmerising feast of local produce, elegantly presented and even more delightful on the taste buds. John Hooker, the chef has done himself and the establishment proud.

We discovered the gem of a restaurant only a couple of weeks ago. It has apparently changed hands, so we don't know what it was like before, although we know it had a good reputation.

However we had nothing but praise for our meal there, and were most impressed. Excellent local ingredients were imaginatively prepared and there was a superb choice, so both of us had difficulty choosing. The wine list was also very comprehensive and we enjoyed a bottle of good champagne, which complemented the meal. The staff are friendly and efficient. The décor is warm and welcoming, with a comfortable bar area and cosy restaurant. We took advantage of the accommodation available upstairs, and stayed the night, which meant we could enjoy the meal to the full without the hassle of driving. I suspect the restaurant would go from strength to strength and with Christmas coming up it will get very busy.

We went to 22 Mill Street for my birthday as a surprise for me, with a couple of friends. All of us were so impressed with the standard of food and service. We were first guided in to sit on the sofa and enjoy a drink whilst our table was prepared, with the dog snoozing at our feet. We never felt rushed so we could really savour the experience. The art work was stunning and the decor in fitting with it. We would definitely eat there again.
