I visited this restaurant at York Place a few days back and it seemed like a nice cosy place. At first it feels like a small restaurant with seating for about 20, however, on further investigation we came to know the restaurant was huge with 9 cellars. We did take a tour and were overwhelmed by the place. The starters were to die for. I had a mutton champ and my friend decided to try the spicy mushrooms, have to say both were out of this world. The curry, a Nilgiri korma and the north Indian chicken were really up to taste and full of flavour, which went down well with the waiter's suggestion of garlic special rice and the spinach and garlic paratha. It doesn't seem like the best Indian restaurant from the outside but get in and cozy atmosphere really is one of a kind. I have to say the food has high points in my book and I’m definitely going to recommend this restaurant to my friends and family.

The best Indian food we’ve ever had. Thanks to 9 cellars and Chef Thakur. We will be back soon. Cheers!

We were a party of twelve who went there on a Tuesday evening and were very unimpressed with our experience. The food was lovely, as we commented at the time; however the service was horrendous and ruined the occasion. We were glared at if we asked questions, left unattended throughout the meal and when someone eventually had to find a member of staff to see if we could have the desserts for the set meal, the remainder of the party were not offered anything at all.

This place has the best Indian food and I can feel their flavour in my mouth! Good presentation too. Chef Thakur deserves his awards. I will be back soon.

I ate here twice on a recent business trip and was a little disappointed, especially since others had been so impressed. The tables were cramped, and the portions were adequate to more. Certainly, I have had many superior masala dosas in veggie houses in London and Leicester, while the meat options err on the bland side. It is fairly reasonably priced, but I was left feeling a bit under whelmed by the experience.

It is one of the great miserable truths of capitalism that the rich eat better value nutritionally and financially, than the poor. But this week, I found a restaurant that is that rare thing, both cheap and excellent value. The menu feature dishes from around the Indian subcontinent, Head Chef P.C.Thakur won International Indian chef of the year 2007. I’ve been to many curry houses, but the meal I had in 9 Cellars Restaurant was my best ever. I would be back soon.

Nine cellar’s food was exceptional, and its menu items were from all over India. It is an authentic Indian restaurant.

Nine Cellars is a complicated labyrinth of tunnels, rooms and mysterious doorways. The food however is simple, it's divine. Not your typical 'curry house' it definitely has more discerning clientele. The menu is more traditional fine Indian cuisine rather than garish-flamingo-pink-tikka-masala-garlic-naan-and-a pint... although a quaff of, very fine, Kingfisher lager does go down very well!
