My husband took me to the Angel for my birthday in December, and it was absolutely wonderful, and was one of the best restaurant meals we've ever had. Everything was perfectly cooked, and it's clear that the inn takes particular pride in its fish dishes. Each course was a wonderful mix of interesting flavours without being gimmicky or over-fussy. I don't recall the pub area, and I would certainly recommend that you ask to eat in the restaurant, which has a perfect dining ambience – intimate, yet private - elegant yet cosy. At the time of writing, the Angel's website has a very representative picture. I'd thoroughly recommend it.
Review by Maureen & Andy Booth (23 January 2006)
We have dined at the restaurant in February/March every year for the past 10 years for Andy's birthday. Last year we stayed over in the barn lodgings and had a wonderful weekend. Fine food, wines and the comfort of a tastefully decorated room with first class service. We are just enquiring again for this year. In 10 years we have never been disappointed.

Lovely dales pub serving excellent quality food - lots of interesting fish, local lamb and beef and delicious puddings. Timothy Taylor's beer a favourite and outstanding wine list. rooms too. This is my favourite dining pub partly because of the food and partly because of the atmosphere. Remains as good as ever.
