Six of us went for a meal at Banter and the food was excellent. The deserts were really good too and the staff were very friendly. We will definitely be back as this must be one of the best restaurants for English food in Leicester.

I came with four friends on a Monday and had a great meal and good banter, excuse the pun, with the staff. Maggie served us and was lovely - helped us order, told us her favourite on the menu and as it was 'buy one main meal get one free', we also saved money - and we won the raffle at the end of the night! I will definitely be visiting again. The food was excellent.

I dined here with three girlfriends for dinner on a Saturday night in August 2008 and it was a great little restaurant, the service was a little slow but the restaurant was busy, the members of staff were friendly and the food was delicious. The two course meal price is very reasonable - you'd be hard pressed to find a cosy restaurant, friendly staff and an excellent menu choice elsewhere in Leicester for that price and atmosphere. As a Londoner I'm looking forward to going back - this time for Valentine's Day.

As always if we want good, piping hot food at exceptional value for money, we always go to Banter Café Bar - mouth watering food, healthy portions served in large plates unlike some of the other restaurants where one portion is never enough. The members of staff are very friendly, the service is fast and the drinks are reasonably priced. Don’t forget to taste their home cooked desserts before leaving. The hot toffee pudding is plate licking good and I can’t finish it on my own. Keep it up guys.

My partner and I love it so much, we got engaged there on Valentine's Day!

We have eaten at Banter many times, and have never had reason to complain. The good value food is always served piping hot and the service is excellent. You are always made to feel welcome and it's a pleasure to have something this good on our door step. Thank you to the manager and staff - it's a pleasure to eat at Banter.

We had an excellent meal at Banter, where we had three courses for £14.95. The food was tasty and nicely served on piping hot plates, and it was refreshing to have fresh veggies cooked properly with my meal. The most enjoyable part was the service and though the four waitresses were very busy and on their toes the Thursday evening we went, nothing was too much of a trouble.

It’s definitely the best place to eat on Braunstone Gate. Their weekly offers are great value and the food is always excellent.

This is an excellent restaurant with lots of choice on the menu. I would recommend it to anyone who fancies a low key night out with an added bonus of wonderful food. Try it, you won't be disappointed.
