We went there on Saturday and found this to be a really nice, clean and airy place with complimentary bottle of iced water and chunks of bread and butter delivered to our reserved table as soon as we sat down. I had a pint of Carlsberg and my wife had a dry white wine. To start I had the devilled kidneys on toast, plum tomatoes, chives and balsamic and my wife had beetroot cured salmon and horseradish blinis. For mains we both had the roast supreme of cod, creamed leeks, crisp bacon and sautéed potatoes. We also had a side order of chips between us and my wife had coffee whilst I finished my lager. The bill was very reasonable indeed at £60.30p plus a tip. The service was good with friendly staff and the food was excellent although both courses were not hot enough and were served up on lukewarm plates. Otherwise 9½/10 for a fine restaurant and yes, we will be going there again.

I have read a lot of reviews for Baraset Barn. Sorry, but I was not happy when I was there with my friends. We went there in June and were disappointed with the service. When we arrived we started to drink in the bar, got a menu and the manager took our order but we waited around half an hour before. We booked our table around 7-7:30 pm but we could sit down only 8:00 pm and unfortunately we were there before 7:00 pm. After sitting our expectation were fever high but the food was poor and the service so slow. We also felt chaos in the restaurant and when I asked about wine, our waitress didn't seem knowledgeable.

We visited Stratford on Friday and came across The Baraset Barn. They serve excellent food, we couldn't have asked for more. My husband is a Head Chef and said it was the best food he had eaten at a restaurant in years, and I have to agree. We would highly recommend this place - superb!

My better half and I went to The Baraset Barn for my birthday this week. It was a Tuesday night and we were not sure of the atmosphere, but as usual everything was perfect. We love this place - the food was interesting and well cooked, staff were efficient and friendly, and it did not disappoint us on this occasion either. We spent New Year ’s Eve of 2007 there and it was brilliant. Their attention to detail was exceptional. It’s a little way out of Stratford, but well worth the visit.

Recently having received a mailer in the Herald in Stratford, my wife and I had decided to take up the offer of a free bottle of wine at the Baraset, where we had a great time. The food was varied and interesting, and the wine list extensive. We discovered on talking with our waitress, a travelling South African, that it was part of a small group of restaurants. Having taken the brochure indicating all the venues we decided to give them all a try.

Let me start by saying, rarely have I looked forward so much to eating at a particular restaurant; however this one came much recommended by a number of people.

However… it just didn’t work, the venue is stunning, the menu looks great, and it went downhill from there, the service was friendly but totally disjointed, not at all polished, the head waitress instructing her staff on the most basic of tasks within 5 foot of our table, being referred to numerous times as ‘table 2’ within clear earshot making one feel totally production line , being served by pretty much everyone in the place on different occasions, the result of which was nothing less than being pestered numerous times about drinks orders and dessert having already ordered, as I say not a cohesive polished service at all.

The food… the menu looks fantastic, but the food quality is totally substandard for the money paid, I had the suckling pig (one of their signature dishes allegedly), the meat was tough and the crackling… wasn’t… the starter despite being talked up on the menu was nothing more than a basic prawn cocktail (and not a good one at that) for near £8, it was unforgivable.

In all, at most I would say 2 out of 10 and that’s for the location and good atmosphere, save some money and eat at any of the many decent real country pubs in the area!

Absolutely stunning restaurant! Really relaxing, full of colour and style. I go there fairly often, even just for an afternoon beer. Food never fails to impress.. I have the snails, they're Super Dooper!

Attentive service and attractive surroundings with an excellent starter and dessert, but our steaks were not cooked as requested and very undercooked fries meant we had to send one main course back three times! The manager was quick to respond to our complaint but there is stiff competition for restaurants in these parts and we have had better, cheaper, elsewhere.

With a party of 6 I visited the restaurant on my birthday in December and had the most amazing evening. The food was excellent for everyone, the service fantastic and the staff were very attentive and friendly. The restaurant is a delight to visit and the interior must be seen. The different areas to eat and drink create a great atmosphere. A must do if in Stratford.

Really stylish and contemporary but still manages to retain character. Food well presented, tasty and good portions. Good wine list. Cool background music. Went there on a Wednesday and was quite busy. Private dining room looks really cool! Really loved it apart from the smokers! As they are allowed to smoke in the bar area (though why they don't ask them to sit in the very stylish lounge area created specifically for smokers) you do get to share it as it wafts through into the restaurant to invade your eating. This might put me off going there again.
