My hubby and I were visiting Bath and chose Beaujolais from an internet search. What a memorable evening they gave us! Sparkly raspberry bellinis got us off to a great start whilst we selected from the menu. Then we shared a steak tartare, fresh as anything and the egg yolk, served separately, was really good. My confit of duck on white bean stew with chorizo was succulent and comforting, hubby's lamb rack was pink and pronounced excellent - it kept him happily occupied. The wine descriptions were good, because we're not experts but what we picked complemented our food very nicely. We'd been invited for coffee elsewhere, so we didn't have pudding but the service was how I like it, professional, approachable but not gushing.

We ate lunch there on Good Friday. It is a real gem and well worth seeking out. The food is really excellent, we had six of the petit plats or tapas and they were all to die for. Sadly service is a bit slow and when it is full they just can't cope, but it is worth waiting.

J'adore Beaujolais, it's difficult to find another place so ideal in this part of Bath. As a Spanish I appreciate the good food and wines, and of course the cheerful place and kind people, I'll be back next year.

My friends and I were in Bath for a long weekend visiting the spa; we were recommended Beaujolais Bistro and were delighted by it. We were lucky enough to have nice weather and were able to eat out in the garden. I had some fantastic ravioli and my friends had steak, and the other squid. Overall this entire bistro was warm, friendly and served delicious food, perfect after a day out in the spa.

We were a group of six who visited this place for my 40th birthday. Lovely food, efficient and friendly service and reasonably priced food made it an enjoyable and memorable event. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening and sat outside as the weather was good. We had cocktails and champagne, and will definitely be visiting again.

Review by Abi (6 February 2008)

Thoroughly disappointing and shockingly rude staff ruined our evening. The waitress directed us to hang our coats rather than taking them from us. The champagne and water were opened but not poured. The starters arrived and were very pleasant, however, when I asked the waitress to hold on the mains she informed me she had already called our table and whilst still eating starters the main course arrived! The waiter tried to clear our plates but as I explained we were still eating. The waitress arrived and caused a scene by raising her voice and wagging her finger at one of the guests who politely asked her to stop pointing her finger and shouting at her, it was hugely embarrassing.

The main course disappeared back to the kitchen. After waiting fifteen minutes for a second bottle of champagne, it arrived and was dumped into the ice bucket.

The main course then returned after forty minutes, looking dried and wilted. It was confirmed by the waiter it had been sitting under the hot lamp. We were all extremely surprised that any chef would allow this to leave his kitchen. We paid the bill and left.

We visited the Beaujolais at the weekend and took a couple of visitors to Bath with us. We were hoping to take our friends somewhere impressive and we were not disappointed. The food was wonderful, the ambience is lovely and the service was superb. Booking was essential on a Saturday night but it was worth it. I would thoroughly recommend it.
