I just recently ate at Bentons Brasserie, not my first time, and decided to have their butternut squash and sweet pepper lasagne with roasted tomato salad. In short, I have never tasted vegetable lasagne such as this, the flavours, texture and the wholesome comfort food made this a winner. I love the ambiance of Bentons and their food is tops. I would recommend this wonderful restaurant. I am going back again in a few weeks and guess what I'll be having?

Having read the reviews on this website, I decided to try Bentons on my recent trip to Notts and I have to say, I had a fantastic experience. Having received a warm welcome, I was seated with my friends in the upper tier of the restaurant, which had a fabulous view into the open kitchen; I like to see what's going on! The restaurant was relatively full, and quite buzzy with a really nice atmosphere. The service was quite quick, and before long we were served bread and our starters. I had Thai fishcakes, which were fantastic, and my friends had steamed mussels with parsley and rocket, which were equally fantastic. For mains, the girls had duck and chicken, while I had the onion, spinach and feta tortillas. They were all yummy. I skipped dessert, but the others had the panacotta and the chocolate pudding, and there wasn't a scrap left on their plates. I have to say the whole evening was brilliant and was worth every penny. I will definitely return when I go back to Notts next month.

In a nearly empty restaurant it took twenty-five minutes before our order was taken. After forty-five minutes we were offered a slice of bread and an hour after we sat down, the starters were served. The service was pedestrian and the food very moderate in quality. Tough steaks, lukewarm and mushy mash with a tasteless lamb shank, after the wrong meal was served, only added to our disappointment. We had looked forward greatly to our first visit to this highly rated restaurant but were really unimpressed. The whole place seemed in need of a makeover and someone to inject some enthusiasm into it. They were expensive and over-rated for what they offered.

I have been going to Bentons Brasserie for almost ten years, and have enjoyed every meal, and every occasion I have had there. The food is excellent and varied, and the wine list extensive. Julian Benton is always on hand to advise on different wines. I heartily recommend Bentons to anyone who wants to have a really good meal, together with a very pleasant and welcoming atmosphere.

I went to Bentons for our Christmas meal and having read the other review; I’m wondering if we went to the same restaurant. The food was fantastic, the members of staff were brilliant and we had a great time. Bentons will be our party venue again this year. Keep up the great work and we’d recommend this place.

Was rather disappointed after having read the reviews for Bentons. I chose the spinach and smoked cheddar tart for starters, which was tasty but rather watery. Lamb shank was well cooked but lacked taste and the mash was rather sloppy.

Service was rather poor and the forty five minute wait for main course not acceptable. May have been because the restaurant was busy with Christmas crowds but that’s no excuse for average food and below average service.

Not in the same class as World Service but similar prices.

That’s a fantastic place to eat in Nottingham. Intimate classy atmosphere plus staff that bend over backwards for you, makes you feel very special. The food is top notch bistro food that never fails to deliver on taste, and is very reasonably priced, especially if you get the early bird during the week. Simply lovely.

We've eaten here at lunchtimes twice recently and found the menu to be excellent, the staff very friendly and helpful - a very pleasant way to spend lunchtime.
