My mum, grandma and I went to the ballet and afterwards we went to Betty's for lunch. I had a lovely milk shake with ice cream in it. It was when they had the Easter eggs. Ever since then I have decided that I will have a big Easter egg from Betty’s for my wedding cake and everyone will be able to bash it to have a bit of fun. I am eight so it will be in ages.

We visited York for a long weekend at the end of June and didn't want to wait in the long queue for lunch and afternoon tea. We were lucky mid-morning on the Monday - no queue and we walked straight in. The service was fast and efficient; the waitresses were helpful, friendly and attentive; the food was delicious and the tea tasted terrific after the awful stuff served up in hotels and other establishments. This was our first visit and we'd go back any time.

We go to Bettys whenever we are up in Yorkshire. We love it. We are only young and it has to be said we have never had a bad visit. Yes, you sometimes have to queue to go in, especially during the summer but play it wisely, go a little earlier and you'll have no trouble getting a table straight away. The food is not overpriced, you simply get what you pay for - local produce, cooked on site and of a superb, delicious quality. You won't be disappointed.

Wonderful - extremely good food, well cooked, nice premises and very polite staff - there are queues to get in, but that speaks for itself - you would hardly queue for poor food? (except at a McDonalds)

With 4 or 5 outlets and a factory in Harrogate it is starting to develop more of a commercial chain feel to it. Still very good quality but overpriced. Be prepared to queue for a table. You won't find many locals here. Little Bettys owned by the same people is better value.

There are very few superlatives that cannot be justifiably applied to this highly successful operation presided over by Tim and Stefa Hart. The hotel itself has won a whole fistful of accolades. ...
