My friends and I are here in Leeds on business and as this was just around the corner from our hotel we thought we'd give it a go. We ate from the early bird menu, at £20 per head for a 3 course meal and half bottle of wine no complaints there! The place itself was quite trendy, however I thought the decor was somewhat confused. As we did not smoke we were taken through to the non smoking restaurant. This was much more formal than the non smoking area, with quite smart decor but somewhat odd....can't quite put my finger on it. All that said, onto the food! It was excellent, excellent presentation and portion size. The wine (I got the half bottle of merlot) was excellent as well. We had a really friendly waitress so all in all I would wholeheartedly recommend this establishment.

Myself and three friends had a meal on Saturday evening, 14.1.06. The Brasserie has a lovely atmosphere and the staff were excellent. My starter was very good as was the dessert. However, my main course, lemon sole, wasn't cooked properly and had to be returned. The staff were very apologetic and immediately offered a replacement. As we are all non smokers we were disappointed to find that the restaurant does allow smoking and, unfortunately, three of the six people on the next table were smoking constantly through the meal. However, in spite of this we would return.

My wife and I visited on 23/12/05 for our Wedding Anniversary, we arrived at about eight fifty and found it to be very quiet. Nonetheless they seemed to be in a great hurry to serve us and were clearing up as we ate. However the food was very enjoyable if a little pretentious at times, and I would have preferred to leave a tip rather than being forced into the ten percent service charge.

I was taken to Brasserie 44 as a Birthday Treat. On entering you are immediately impressed by the warm welcoming layout. I felt there was a bit of a limit to the menu but it encouraged me to be a little daring. The Ostrich Fillet is divine! All the food is hot and tasty. The only criticism would be that there seemed to be too many staff and it gave the feeling that you were being rushed.

My wife and I dine reasonably regularly at this Restaurant and always enjoy the balanced food and service. In our opinion, it offers excellent value, extremely good food and highly professional service. Our reason for returning is the consistent quality and cutting edge menus and style.

We went on Saturday with friends and all agreed that it is the best night out in a Leeds restaurant. Food may be better in Pool Court, but it is not as much fun and less atmosphere. Simply our favourite when in Leeds.

Quite simply of the very best meals I've had in Leeds! A great atmosphere, service to die for and food ... well, the fish fingers are spectacular.
