We met up with a friend last night. It was our second visit and the piece of haddock I had was superb. The chips were delicious and we could have had more if we wanted, but alas we were too stuffed. I certainly recommend this place to my friends and will definitely be back. The members of staff were attentive and polite. A tip was left to show our gratitude.

We went with a group of friends to Chez Fred this weekend, we waited to be seated, not surprising, as it was a busy Saturday night. Once seated, we had huge menus on the tables, a server took our orders and was very attentive however the smile was a little cheesy.

The service was well timed and portions were adequate. The batter on the fish was intact, which is a well learnt skill. Things started to go downhill with the chips, unfortunately they were overdone, causing them to be warm with a firm and rubbery texture and the tartar sauce was tasteless, in my professional opinion.Having heard many good things about Chez Fred, we didn't have a overall great dining experience.

The decor is a little dated and with a few modern contemporary changes the restaurant would be a whole lot better. We weren't overly keen on the whole outdated reputation splattered all over the waiting area walls, pictures and autographs even letters dated back to 1994. this is 2008, something more recent is more appropriate. I’d rate them a 6/10, I’m afraid.

I've been to Chez Fred on many occasions and in one word it is exellent. The food and service are good service good.

I have eaten here a few times and found the food to be excellent every time. I would differ with another reviewer in that making it larger would spoil the ambience and lead them into the ever growing spiral of being bigger, and is that good?

I had been to Chez Fred on many occasions and the food is always cooked well, my only comment is that they could go in for a bigger restaurant as it is always busy.

Superbly fried fresh fish is the order of the day in this efficiently run traditional fish and chip shop with adjoining restaurant offering excellent value for money.
