Many thanks to The Church Restaurant for making my mum's birthday so special, we all had a wonderful evening. The food and the service were excellent and we will definitely come back.

A group of nine of us went to the Church recently and I have to say that I was distinctly under whelmed. I can only speak for my own meal, but found that a lack of mint and only tinned peaches in my peach, mozzarella, pea and mint salad left mainly just underdressed lettuce to 'enjoy', and whilst my beef, mushroom and Stilton pie was delicious, the mash with which it was served seemed to only contain potato and no form of cream, butter or seasoning. An uninspiring cheese board followed, as did a bill for over £32 per head, which in no way represented value for money for me. Only a week earlier I had eaten in Newcastle at another excellent restaurant, whose set £15 three-course menu trampled all over the frankly insipid fayre offered at the Church. This was my first visit to the Church, and definitely my last.

I booked a meal for Mother’s Day well in advance was surprised to be contacted a few days before to say that the table was already taken as they had made a mistake with the booking.

The restaurant did not care that the move left me in the lurch having to find a new restaurant to go to on a Sunday in Northampton - never an easy task. We have been there several times before and even taken friends - we definitely will not be going again

Just one word to sum up the atmosphere, setting, food, drink and service at this restaurant - incredible! I found this restaurant through hours of searching on the internet trying to find a restaurant with a difference. My boyfriend and I had a main course each, a bottle of champagne and two vodka and cokes and the bill came to £50, which I thought was very reasonable. I would definitely recommend it for a small group of adults, or a romantic meal for a couple, though it is not the best place for children.

The Church is a great restaurant, a beautiful conversion, providing a unique environment for dining and drinking, and the food is very good. We had an excellent fish lunch there, the starters were all priced at £5, mains at £12, it was a good value. Service was efficient and friendly.

Four of us went to the much-criticised Church Restaurant for an evening meal last night, after having been advised by various friends that it was over-expensive, poor value and uninspiring food, but we were pleasantly surprised to find that these criticisms were completely unfounded as we found the whole evening to be a most pleasant experience. From the initial welcome and the prompt and most efficient service throughout the evening together with the most pleasant ambience of the whole restaurant and the beautifully presented food, from a rather limited menu, to the settlement of the bill, we all had really enjoyed our evening, though I should mention that the subdued lighting may have been romantic but did make it difficult to see what you were eating and the choice of background music varied in a bizarre fashion, but all in all we had a most enjoyable meal at a reasonable price.

Great building but poor food! Went for lunch today, only four of us in the whole restaurant was advised that the lunch menu was the same as the evening but without the specials! The list in the menu was very limited. Bread was brought to the table (part baked oven rolls) Had Sausage and mash, mash was fine but sausages had rubbery skins. I can’t say I would rush back!

We have eaten there twice in the last few months. The menu is interesting, and reasonably priced. The staff and service are excellent. Most of all, it has a great atmosphere. The price varied from £25 -£30 per head, including drinks. We think it is a place for special occasions at affordable prices.

I ate there with a group of girlfriends on Saturday and we all really enjoyed ourselves. They have a stunning non-smoking bar area, which is open to the public, not just for people eating. The food and the service were brilliant. Main courses are as little as £12, so the bill wasn't a shock at the end of the night! Really fabulous place, can't wait to go again.

I ate dinner last week at the beautiful Church Restaurant. The meal was superb and at only £12 for all main courses was great value for money. All the dishes were attractively presented - the starters included confit of duck, a good sized goat’s cheese parcel, smoked salmon with avocado salsa, and spectacular pil pil prawns. All starters and desserts are only £5. There was a good choice of mains including a much-enjoyed vegetarian stuffed Portobello mushroom. Star dessert was the frozen berries with white chocolate pouring sauce. The service was friendly and efficient and our meal with wine, coffee and service only came to £26 per head. It is great value in a unique setting. When I next visit I shall make sure I have time for a pre-dinner drink in their attractive Chapel Bar.
