I loved it; the food was smashing, and the service was well worth the 12.5% service charge. Thank you very much for making our dinner a wonderful experience. We will definitely be seeing you soon.

I have been to the Crab and Winkle a few times now and have never been let down. The members of staff are competent, and they have a thoroughly reliable chef in the kitchen. Fish and chips are a good test of any seafood restaurant, and the Crab and Winkle’s are as good as any we've had. It's not perfect; the waitress who took our drinks order on our latest visit had a fairly limited grasp of English and the Muscadet ran out after one bottle. That was bad, but the experience was good. The staff coped well with normal tables and a large eightieth birthday party, and everyone had a comfortable and satisfying time. I have no hesitation in recommending the Crab and Winkle, its popularity is well deserved.

We dined there on a bit of a drab Thursday. Fortunately we found ourselves in the right place as the food was some of the tastiest I have had and the service was friendly, helpful and unobtrusive. We will definitely be going there again as we had a fantastic experience.

I think this place is overrated and overpriced. The salmon dish was terrible with undercooked vegetables and old potatoes, the waiter could not have cared less and for £20 a dish, we would expect more. Certainly wasn't worth the 12.5% service charge and we won't be going back.

We made the mistake of visiting the Crab & Winkle on the very first day it opened some years ago. To say it was mediocre would be more than kind and the service was dire. Well perhaps we should have waited.

Today we decided to take some old friends for lunch and on a whim made a reservation.

We are totally stunned at how this establishment has come on. The service is second to none, the menus imaginative, exquisite and quite the nicest meal we have had in Kent for some time. I had goats cheese and the fish stew, the others had pheasant pate and Monkshill ham. Every single morsel was cooked to perfection. Not requiring a dessert, we were still presented with a choice of 'sweet canapes' which were as delightful as they were unexpected.

Well done, St Augustines team. We will be back and are spreading the word to all our friends.

Excellent food, setting and service. We have had several meals there and have not been let down, even when recommending to friends. The set meals are tasty, imaginative and priced right. Far superior than the oyster stores on the beach, which have in contrast let us down on our last three visits. Keep up the good work.

I had lunch at this restaurant and overall it was very nice. I felt it was very expensive and not very good value as the portions were on the small side, except for the cod and chips which was a nice sized portion. I had a small crab starter for £11 and three courses for two people with one drink each came to £80, then they add another 12.5% service, a total of £90. I’ve had much better for much less, I guess the well-heeled commuters from London find the prices ok.
