My partner and I went to the Daffodil on a Monday night jazz evening, May 09. We chose the set menu and we were not disappointed, the food was delicious and visually stunning, the spinach soup with smoked haddock mousse served with warm bread was mouth-watering, followed by the guinea fowl which was delicious. At arrival you are met by the polite staff and your food is served to you 'hot' by the attentive staff. It is a joy to dine at the Daffodil, highly recommended.

I visited The Daffodil at the end of February, having travelled to Cheltenham from Suffolk to visit an 88 year old gentleman who was convalescing from surgery. The members of staff were charming, courteous and helpful, making my guest particularly welcome. The set luncheon menu is exceptional value with a good choice of dishes for each course: portions generous without being overbearing. Vegetarians are well provided for and the passion fruit sorbet a perfect end to a marvellous eating experience, legendary has already been used, so I shall say ‘historic’. Perfect service - never having to wait - neither were we pressured. An enchanting experience and I look forward to revisiting for dinner. I only wish I lived in Cheltenham.

We visited The Daffodil for my cousins 40th birthday and it was perfect. I asked for a special table which we got – the whole evening was superb. Wonderful service (our waiter was brilliant), amazing food with piping hot plates and the best steak I have ever eaten, and your sticky toffee pudding was legendary! They made a special occasion very special indeed.

My husband and I booked a table at the Daffodil for an anniversary treat and we were not disappointed. The unique surroundings and excellent atmosphere made it a night to remember and would eagerly pay another visit. The menu was exceptional, food was to the high quality I would have expected, and the members of staff were very helpful and attentive. Worth a visit not only for the food, but the unusual surroundings and beautiful décor, a brilliant use of an old building, who ever thought of it was very imaginative.

I regularly visit The Daffodil and the new refurbishment is an absolute dream. The colours are rich and decadent and more in keeping with how the building originally looked – a more eclectic experience than the past Daffodil incarnation. The result is a warmer, coordinated and softer feel with a noticed decrease in the sound that used to bounce around the restaurant area, especially downstairs. The service and food is absolutely wonderful and I will, as a regular customer for over 10 years, be continuing my relationship with the ever original and truly delicious Daffodil.

I went on a Wednesday night for a business meal and wondered if this enormous restaurant would lack the atmosphere necessary to encourage our clients to relax. I expected the interiors to be warmer and brighter. The food was lovely although a bit expensive.

Having just eaten at the newly reopened Daffodil, I can confirm that the food and service are, as ever, top notch. My wife and I were delighted with each of the three courses we chose - all were both delicious and well constructed. The rhubarb and lemon crème brulee was a particular treat, and a perfect end to our meal.

The new look however left us wondering about the 'Emperor's New Clothes' factor. I am well aware that restaurants do the bulk of their trade during the hours of darkness but dark need not be ubiquitous. A cheap looking plastic floor that already shows innumerable chair scrapes lets it down like flip flops with Saville Row. I am not certain if the handrails and seating are covered with leather or a synthetic but the feel is budget. The simultaneous opening of the Costa outlet in store at Tesco's, Bishops Cleeve is a coincidence I am sure, but the parallels are unavoidable. To combine a classic design with vibrancy was why the Daffodil deserved it's reputation as a cut above establishment.

Quite hard to find. I used two route planners with the postcode of The Daffodil, and somehow we ended up in the other side of Cheltenham!

We went on the first day of reopening. Upon entering this twenties inspired theme restaurant, the waiting staff are there to welcome you and offer you the use of the cloakroom and were happy they give us a table we wanted.

The food is pricey - £69 for 2 including starter, mains, drinks and coffee - but it is amazing. My partner, who detests mussels, declared my starter to be the best he'd ever tasted. I can also recommend the chorizo and bean soup.

Mains were equally outstanding; saddle of rabbit complemented by mustard-tanged mash and braised cabbage. He had lamb - generally lamb cooked to a rare degree is quite tricky to accomplish, but again, we were pleased by the tender result.

We travelled over two hundred miles, to re-visit The Daffodil, to enjoy a celebratory meal on our forty sixth wedding anniversary. We had eaten there before so knew what to expect. We were made to feel 'special' from the time that we walked in from the street until we left after a sumptuous meal, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The food, the decor and the excellent service make The Daffodil a 'must' for anyone visiting Cheltenham or wanting a special place to celebrate.

My girlfriend and I plus two friends recently visited Cheltenham for the weekend. Whilst there, we had the great pleasure of having dinner at the Daffodil. What a wonderful restaurant. The restaurant itself is an unusual location set in an old cinema with an original Art-deco feel inside. It has to be seen to be fully appreciated. The food was magnificent, with a good and varied selection of dishes. The only small gripe we had was with the House Wine and the House Champagne, which the manager refunded from our bill when we mentioned. It has been a long time since I have had a meal of that quality. It made for a very enjoyable evening. If you are in Cheltenham and you enjoy good food, the Daffodil is a must!
