I took my fiancée to this restaurant and found it to be brilliant. Having travelled all round the world with her enjoying the food as we've went, it’s the first time ever that she described the food as brilliant - simple, elegant and well worth recommending. We simply can't believe the size of the superb portions either. We could hardly finish the food. It’s great to see a family providing excellent service and fabulous food, we'll be back as soon as we can. We're definitely bringing our friends and family too, that's a great excuse for us to come back even more often. Please keep up the 'brilliant' standards and if you can, open up a restaurant in Cardiff soon.

We've visited this restaurant twice on our short breaks to Swansea. The welcome is warm, and the food superb and well presented. It was good to talk to the chef who visited each table to enquire if we enjoyed the meal, it gave a nice touch. The price is marginally higher than some neighbouring restaurants but its well worth it. We feel it is a must for our next visit to the area.

My girlfriend and I recently ate at Darcy's and had a wonderful time there. The restaurant wasn't at all busy, but it was a Thursday and not really peak season. The prices were high by the standards of the area but reflected the modern menu and thought that had gone into the dishes. The front of house staff were wonderfully welcoming. The presentation of the food was first class and the flavours of all the dishes worked really well. My partner had the navarin of lamb and she said it was one of the best lamb dishes she had had in recent memory. I choose the fillet steak which was cooked perfectly for me, however I did find the accompanying sauce slightly bitter for my palate. The wine list was well balanced although the choice of wine by the glass was limited. That said I was pleasantly surprised by the smoothness of flavour of the one I choose. If this is a reflection of the palate of the person selecting wines then I would think that they would all be just as good. After we had finished our meal we had a wonderful chat with the back of house staff and it really enhanced the whole experience for us. I would have no problem recommending this restaurant to my friends. We both rated our dining experience at Darcy's as being equal that at the New Angel in Dartmouth. The added bonus was staff who are a credit to the establishment and make for a much more personable dining experience.

Don’t be misled by the smart contemporary look of the restaurant. The experience we had at Darcy’s was very poor - grumpy staff and frozen peas to accompany the seasonal vegetables selection of carrots and mash. We admired their green environmentally friendly use of recycled napkins and glasses which hadn’t been washed completely. We decided it was the worst meal we had all had in years and would encourage people research and find somewhere else to dine.

The food was good and well presented; the staff were very considerate and dealt well with various dietary needs.

We went for Sunday lunch today, and were not impressed - terrible atmosphere, no smiles from the waiters at any point, slow service and awful food - dirty crockery, lipstick on glass and bread, which was almost raw dough. I had roast beef, and I don't know whether it was the end piece but it was some scraggy thick chunks which were as tough as old boots. The roast potatoes were soggy and cold and the gravy tasted revolting. The best bit was when we came to pay - 3 main meals, 3 orange and lemonades at £4 each and the bill came up to £51.70. Will not be going again and will be strongly advising all my friends to avoid the place.

Without doubt the best food I have tasted in Mumbles; it must be Swansea's best kept secret. The other reviews bear no resemblance to our experience yesterday evening. The restaurant is simply furnished, similar to what it was as 698, and impeccably finished. The menus were paper presumably because they change to reflect the availability of fresh produce. They were also not too long, offering sufficient variety, but giving the confidence that each dish was to be freshly prepared. The food was superb and perfectly cooked, with what tasted like the freshest ingredients. I had scallops which were cooked to perfection, not tough and overcooked as I have had elsewhere, and beautifully presented. For main course I had Darcy's burger, a burger like no other I have tasted, again perfectly cooked with unique and fresh accompaniments, and amazing triple cooked chips. The service was spot on, there when we needed them, and all for a really good price. The soft relaxed music fitted the venue and the food. It is definitely my favourite restaurant and highly recommended. Thanks for a great evening.

I could fill the whole page listing the poor to appalling service and quality of food. From no atmosphere to unfriendly, warm wine to tasteless food and then when comments are given to the members of staff, they show no real interest. Needless to say I will never return and will tell all I know.

The food was awful, no friendship while entering. I would not recommend.

We were looking forward to visiting what used to be one of our favourite little restaurants in Mumbles - 698 - now Darcy's. Well - all I can say is what a disappointment! The place was virtually empty, and I agree with the previous comment, it was lacking in atmosphere- although the Christmas trees did look very pretty. The waitress didn’t understand the menu and the prices were steep compared with other nearby restaurants - so we were expecting something better. After reading the article about high standards of staff training and London restaurant standards in Swansea Life I reckon they have an over inflated opinion of themselves reflected in their over inflated prices. We won’t be going back.
