Great food and service makes it simply the best place to eat, along with it's great house wines.

We arrived expecting much but we stayed and the soup was wonderful. The pizza was nice and so was the burger, but the fries were overcooked. It was quite expensive but nice.

I love the place. We have eaten there seven times this year and usually on Friday evening between 8-9 pm. The service is excellent and food is to die for. From the past experience if you book a table in advance they seat you in the main restaurant, but if you book the same day or turn up on spec you would be at the end of the bar area. Either way it is a totally enjoyable experience. I am hoping to visit again the coming Friday.

Review by Julie Buckenham (22 April 2007)

We booked a table for six last night to celebrate my daughter's mother in law's 65th birthday. As you would expect it was very busy in the bar area being a Saturday night but we were a bit dismayed to find that we were seated at the end of the bar area and not at the back in the restaurant. Head banging music was coming out of a speaker just above our heads which coupled with the general noise in the pub made any kind of conversation impossible.

We asked a couple of times if there was any chance of switching the music off from our speaker but the waiter did not even come back and say 'sorry' it was not. The service in my opinion was not up to scratch as it was slow and it was very difficult to speak to any of the different waiters who served us. We have no complaints about the actual food although it is pricey so therefore expect better service and comfort.

We have been a couple of times before and have sat in the proper restaurant and have had no complaints. I think if the only tables available are in the bar then the customer should be informed upon booking. We tried not to make too much fuss last night as it was a special occasion but it is disappointing when you cannot talk to someone you have not seen for some time. We all kept our heads down and ate!

Review by Very Disgruntled Customer (19 February 2007)

Customer care was abysmal. I had booked a meal for two on Saturday for a special occasion and was told on arrival that the kitchen was out of action and they couldn't accommodate us. I then proceeded to watch the waiting on staff serve food to several diners and take the order from a large party of customers. On questioning the restaurant manager the story changed and only part of the kitchen was out of action. I believe that the restaurant had over booked and that as I wasn't a big party I would attract less income so was expendable. My advice to other potential diners is to go here in a big group so you can ensure you get fed!
