We were lucky to discover Egan's during a sailing trip in June and a return visit in September proved just as delightful. The assiette of desserts is unsurpassed. We look forward to our next visit in November.

The food was fantastic; cauliflower soup with three different choices of bread, and that too as much as you wanted, the service was great and the main divine, ambience was wonderful. Well done!

It has the best sauces that you can ever imagine eating with a high quality of food and service. It’s a very nice place to eat.

We have been going to Egan's on and off for over 10 years and went most recently for lunch on Wednesday. The menu is different every day and the food really is fantastic. My risotto starter alone was worth the cost charged for all three courses. My main course consisted of five different fillets of fish, skate wing, salmon, hake, sea bream and sea bass, with a beautiful sauce and fresh vegetables, all cooked to perfection, followed by a assiette trio of desserts. The bill for both my wife and I including a bottle of very good quality guest wine, Australian Pinot Grigio, came to less than £50! We think due to its location just away from the main Highstreet it is largely undiscovered by visitors to Lymington and the low cost belies the fabulous quality. The service is always excellent, the staff are very attentive, and the ambiance is very relaxing. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone, and I believe it is a jewel in the crown of Lymington.

Review by Terry Roper (9 May 2009)

On Thursday I booked for my wife’s birthday celebration meal. I can only describe the experience as superb. The service and ambience were excellent. We both chose fish as our main course. The food was well presented, expertly cooked and reasonably priced. The portions were enough to satisfy anyone’s hunger. The wine was again very good and sensibly priced. We have eaten in restaurants all over the world including pretentious Michelin starred establishments. This knocks the majority of them into a top hat. I would recommend anyone who is in the area to pay a visit to taste fine food. Ann and Terry Roper - Oxford.

The food produced from John Egan’s kitchen is consistently of the highest quality; some of his combination dishes are a delight with flavours blending beautifully. The quality of his lunch is only matched by the superb range of dishes provided from his dinner menus. The friendly service provided by Debbie and Sally tops up the pleasure derived from visits to Egan’s.

My husband and I live in Solihull but visit Lymington twice a year for an annual holiday and our wedding anniversary. We have been eating at Egan’s for approximately six years and without doubt it is the best restaurant we know and wish it was a lot closer. We love the food, the atmosphere and the kindness and consideration of the staff. We look forward to seeing you all in March 2009 for our first visit to Egan’s. Long may you last and thanks again to everyone for our superb meals.

We went to Egan’s as a family of twelve for my father's 90th birthday on the recommendation of a friend. Not having been there before, you never quite know what to expect and we wanted it to be a special occasion. Well, it certainly measured up. The food was excellent without exception. Far beyond what one might expect at the very reasonable prices. The service was very friendly and efficient. We never felt rushed even though we were there towards the end of the lunch period, and the atmosphere was pleasantly warm and relaxed. This was a big plus as I find restaurants of this calibre can often be stuffy. Here's the topper. My dad's comment was that it was the best meal he had ever had! Beat that! Thanks to all at Egan’s.

As a chef I find the treat my taste buds receive a delight, my daughters find every excuse to attend, any occasion will suffice. The whole package is brilliant, well planned, organised consistently and delivered. It’s always a treat due to distance, but truly worth travelling for. So thank you to the whole team.

This is a fabulous restaurant. They have an exceptionally high standard of food at reasonable prices, and in a friendly contemporary setting. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff.
