After our first time trip at the weekend, and we are looking at whom we're taking next time. Starters were the size of other restaurant main and we even took the soup home as it was so good. The food and service were great and good value for money, worth the drive from Marlow.

Have been a regular visitor for some years and enjoyed the continuing high standard of food and friendly service. The negative comments by Bonnie and Frank Smits were, I suspect, a function of the then, now happily departed, restaurant manager. He was in my experience an aberration. Usual service was certainly still in evidence last Saturday.

This must be the best fish restaurant in the UK. I love the way the food is served in cast iron pots, very original. The food is just amazing and is complemented by a good wine selection. Bruce and his staff are a real compliment to Amersham.

I have lived in High Wycombe all my life and never heard of this restaurant before! We went for lunch today and totally enjoyed the experienced and shared a skillet of three different types of fish, chips and rice. Just a shame our drinks bill was so expensive - we were both drinking coke! We will be back especially as the menu is changing on 1st July!

I have to totally disagree with the comments that have been made below about this restaurant. I have been a loyal customer of this restaurant even when it moved to the other side of the high street and was closed for a rather long period. The staff have always been very friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes and the food speaks for itself - superb. To make this restaurant even better the whole thing is non-smoking and you can see the food being prepared. My advice is to try the pan dishes - totally excellent.

My girlfriend and I have been here a few times now. It is about 1 minute walk from our house, you see, and we love fish. Our experiences are mixed so say the least. At Valentine’s Day we were told (after being 5 minutes late, see Bonnie's review!) that we had to be out of there by 9pm, but weren't given a menu for 30 minutes!!

We were then rushed into eating our food. The Maitre D' was more than rude also the next time and should really learn how to treat customers. For us, it took away much of the joy of the food. Also, the food experience was mixed. About 50% of the dishes we ate were 'OK', but certainly not 'good'. The other 50% were 'good' and tasty.

But the entourage is fine, you can see the chefs prepare the food. The service is really something that puts me off, though.

I recently reserved a table for a special occasion originally for 7.30pm and was told I could only make a reservation for 7.15pm which was agreed. We arrived no more than 5 minutes late, were shown to our table and proceeded to order our drinks. The maitre d’/manager who had previously been greeting other customers and reciting the specials, came over to our table and spoke very abruptly informing us we were half an hour late and should have arrived at 7pm. He went on to state they had a reservation for 9pm and we needed to be out well before then, this was all said in an extremely rude manner and he did not believe us when we corrected him about the reservation time. We were obviously appalled at his manner and I felt I should make prospective customers aware. A restaurant's reputation is at least 50% customer service and unfortunately the food was very disappointing as the seafood was overcooked.

Excellent take on a cafeteria theme. Mussel cocktail was the oddest yet interesting thing I've eaten in a long time. To be recommended!
