I am not a big fan and had my leaving dinner at the restaurant. We booked a table for ten people. Unfortunately, two people couldn't make it and I had to cancel two seats. Of course they made a huge fuss about it and we ended up having to pay for the menu that we also had to pre-order. I was not happy about all of this. The service was okay but you can get great Asian food for way less money.

I arrived after a particularly stressful day at work, which involved a lot of travelling. I was looking forward to a relatively nice meal with my boyfriend and a couple of friends. The evening quickly turned into a farce when it became clear that we were going to have to wait a very long time to actually receive any food we had ordered. The starters arrived with some cocktails, which was okay but the food was overpriced. My boyfriend’s Caipirinha was small but for a £10 charge, I think a larger cocktail was definitely called for. We ordered several dishes for mains and mine did not arrive at all. After catching the attention of a waiter by leaving my seat and walking to him, I explained that this simply wasn't good enough. The waiter, who was perfectly pleasant, went in to find out what was going on. On his return, I was told that the kitchen had run out of beef curry. I was offered, by way of an apology, a plate of two small lamb pieces with pureed potato and a few glasses of champagne thrown in as well. While our waiter tried his best to help, I think the kitchen and management staff could have communicated better so our meal could have arrived in a co-ordinated manner. We were disappointed with the whole evening.

Gilgamesh has a terrific atmosphere and a tremendous buzz the minute you walk in. The bar and restaurant are always full of life and both the drinks and food are top class! Great venue for upmarket wine and dining and highly recommended.

I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience at Gilgamesh in Camden. The menu boasted many choices of pan-Asian cuisine. The servers were polite and well-trained, which helped add to the ambience of the evening. If you like this type of food, I suggest you book a table.

Though I actually enjoyed the ambience, I think this restaurant is a total joke. When we walked in from the rear of the empty restaurant, where the car park is, on a Sunday evening, we arrived at a small ‘meet and greet’ station staffed by a very rude hostess/ waitress who informed us that we would need to walk right through the restaurant to check in with reception at the other entrance for them to check where we are on the seating plan. This was despite the fact that the place was almost deserted and we had made a booking ahead. If I were a member of staff, I would have taken the coats and gone and done this myself allowing the customer to relax for a second whilst I sorted this out.
We sampled a selection of vegetarian bites and I enquired about the freshness of the fish in the sushi. On being advised that the delivery was from Friday, I decided not to go for it.
One of the Vodka Red Bulls that we ordered had very little discernable Vodka in it according to my date, and the food was what can only be described as ridiculously over-priced. We had a few little bits and bobs with a couple of Vodka Red Bulls and the bill came to £85.00. This did not come as a surprise however, as the snobby menu needs even a fairly well educated foodie to ask what virutally everything was. The people who write the menu and set prices, obviously think as mistakenly highly of the restaurant, as many of the staff do of themselves.
